NEW – Grade 11’s – Grad 2027 Exec Meeting
Calling all current Grade 11's – our grad class of 2027! Our first Grad Exec meeting will be TOMORROW (TUESDAY) June 9 at lunch in Room 200 (Ms. McAvoy's Room). See you then!
NEW - “New Slang Magazine”
There are copies of “New Slang Magazine” in the Learning Commons. This is a compilation of student writing that includes pieces of short fiction and poetry, written by Claremont students, and exploring themes of change, growing up, and evolving. People are welcome to flip through them or take a copy if the magazine interests them. This magazine is a capstone project of our grade 12 student, Nuala.
Copernican Days June 9 & 10
Provincial Numeracy and Literacy Assessments will be taking place for many students THIS TUESDAY June 9 and WEDNESDAY June 10. To properly schedule these assessments, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per day. Please note the revised Class Schedule:

¬ ATHLETICS
NEW – Track & Field
Fantastic performances at the BC Track and Field Championships.
- Senior Girls placed 5th in BC out of 31 teams in the 4x100 relay;
- Thea MOORE placed 3rd in long jump, 8th in the 100m, and 4th in the 200m;
- Ava dePOL was 12th in the 100m and 24th in the 200m;
- Noah BUSSOLI was 13th in the shot put and 22nd in the discus;
- Sam PERKINS was 25th in the 100m;
- Emma CHANG was 11th in the 80m hurdles and 14th in the 300m hurdles;
- Amelia SZENKOWSKA was 26th in the 1500m;
- Junior Boys placed 14th in the 4x100 relay.
Please congratulate these athletes when you see them. The competition was very stiff, and the athletes were very successful. Go Spartans!!
NEW – Spring Sports Successes
Our Spring season of school sports has had a ton of success! The Spartan Nation has been on a roll!! This is a quick synopsis!!
Rugby
Girls 7’s - BC Champs!! (3rd one in 5 years)
Boys 15’s - 6th in AAA
Golf - 3rd place finish at the BC Championships
Track and Field - Sr girls placed 5th overall and numerous other athletes placed high in competition.
Ultimate Frisbee - 3rd place in league, plus their first ever berth to the Island Championships.
Tennis – our Boys were 3rd on the Island, and the Girls were 4th, both just missing the BC Championships.
Badminton - the girls team placed 5th at the Island Championships.
Soccer
-both Sr and Jr girls teams had great success in league, narrowly missing the Island Championships.
Rowing – the CSI rowers are currenting crushing it in St Catherine’s at a nation-wide regatta.
Lacrosse
-the Girls program won the title in their division in Anaheim.
-the Boys program heads to Denver this week to try and defend their title at the Denver Shootout.
Wow - what a spring season of success! All these, as well as the rest of the athletic success this year, will be celebrated at the Athletics Awards on WEDNESDAY June 17.

Night of Dance: June 8 & 9
Night of Dance is TONIGHT and TUESDAY night at 7pm. We are looking forward to a fabulous showcase of dance choreography! There are a small number of tickets available for tonight’s show, which will be sold at lunch TODAY in front of the theatre.

Bottle Drive: June 13
A group of IGS 12 students is running a bottle drive THIS SATURDAY June 13, 9:00-1:00 in the student parking lot. No sorting required…. simply drop off and drive away. All funds raised will go to support The Wanted Children Foundation, whose mission is to provide care, housing, education, and a future to orphaned and vulnerable children in Nigeria. Thank you for your support. Your donations will directly help these children.

Are you working over the summer (and into the coming school year)? Sign up for Work Experience 12! In order to log hours over the summer, you need to meet with Mr. Bussoli FIRST. Volunteer Opportunity: June 12
The ḰELSET PAC Spring Fair is still looking for high school students to volunteer to help run the carnival games at ḰELSET Elementary, THIS FRIDAY June 12 from 5-8pm.
Do you remember how much fun your elementary school spring fairs were when you were a kid?? Earn volunteer hours and have fun doing it!. Do you play golf or love the game? Student volunteers are needed to help at BC Cancer’s “Lawrence’s Drive for a Cure” golf tournament on July 24th at Cordova Bay Golf Course.

Student Drivers
Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical
At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm. Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
