TURKEY AND SYRIA – Upcoming Survive Drive
Following the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey, the people of Turkey and Syria are suffering deeply and need your help. 10 cities are destroyed, there are currently over 22,000 deaths, and there are countless injured. People are dying under the rubble as they wait for help, and the cold conditions are causing further suffering, as people wait for help and supplies. Most people have nothing. Lives are in danger and you can help.
Claremont will be having a Survive Drive soon. Stay tuned for details. Our first initiative comes from the IGS Zero Café: starting today, all proceeds from purchases at the Zero Café will go to raise funds to help this important cause. Thank you for your support.
TC10K – Spartan Team
Calling all runners, walkers, joggers, students and staff for the annual TC10K! The school team has been created. If you are thinking about running/walking in the event, go to the TC10K website, select “Claremont Spartans” from the drop-down menu, and add yourself to the school team. Registration deadline is April 13th! Let’s go Spartans!

Cancer Research Internship Program – Info Feb.15
The Xavier Pelletier High School Internship Program (HSIP) is an 8-week summer program that runs from July-August each summer at the BC Cancer Agency’s Trev and Joyce Deeley Research Center in Victoria. This program offers Grade 11 students the opportunity to explore cancer research from the front lines, learning the latest techniques in the fight against cancer today and setting the ground for the future. Any interested Grade 11 students are asked to meet THIS WEDNESDAY Feb 15 at lunch in Room 200 (Ms. McAvoy's Room) for more details on this opportunity.

Come to the Learning Commons, grab a bookmark, or stay, and colour them - then we'll send them to Lochside and Cordova Bay Elementary students. Choose from a variety of designs.
New: ON-LINE Report Cards – Feb. 8
New to SD63: Student report cards were distributed this week on Wednesday by way of an on-line student portal. Students can login and access their report cards (PDF version). A Saanich Student portal link was sent BY EMAIL to all students and their primary contacts on WEDNESDAY (and it is only accessible using student information).
Lost & Found
A Samsung cell phone was found in the school. Please come to the office to claim it.
After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.
Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is running on TUESDAY and THURSDAY mornings (before block 1) at the Spartan Store. All students are welcome to come by for a bagel (with choice of spreads) and a juice box. Items are $.25 each.

Spirit Club: “Perfect Match” Day – Feb.13
THIS MONDAY is "Perfect Match" day. Dress up in your most impressive matching outfits, whether it be with your besties or doppelgangers. Prizes and Element points for the best group outfits!
Spirit Club: Valentine Candy Grams
TODAY is the final day to buy a Valentine Candy Gram. They are on sale at lunch in the Student Lounge for $2, and will be delivered on Valentines Day. Come spread some love and treat a friend; all proceeds will go to the Victoria Pride Society.
Key Club – in Need of Old T-Shirts
The Key Club is making DIY dog toys for the Broken Promises Rescue Centre, and needs 100% cotton, clean T-shirts in ALL colours and sizes. Drop-off is at the front office every day until WEDNESDAY Feb. 22nd. Your help is much appreciated!

Grad Fundraiser: Ongoing Bottle Drive

Skills Canada Competitions
Registration for this year's Regional South Island Skills Canada Competitions will be open soon! Online or face-to-face competitions will be held, covering areas like automotive, baking, hairstyling, welding, electronics, pipe trades, job search, photography, and more...
Competitions will be in March, with the deadline for registration mid-February. Keep watching announcements for more information. See Mr. Bussoli in room 217 if you are interested in competing. More information HERE.
Summer Employment with Saanich School District
Grade 12 Students: The Saanich School District #63 will be hiring summer staff in the Custodial Department! Full-time, union positions will be available from the end of June until end of August, with the opportunity for continuing employment. Earn competitive wages vs. minimum wage.
