NEW – Timetables for 2026/2027

Our first draft of timetables is being worked on and will be posted for all students in their Brightspace accounts on TUESDAY June 16th at 3:00pm.

 

NEW - Claremont FTV Film Festival: Volume 3: June 19

You are invited to the Ridge Playhouse on FRIDAY June 19th at 7pm to a free event.  It is the third edition of the Film & TV Class Film Festival!  Come see the exciting and original work of the Film/TV students from the past semester on the big screen. There will be free mini chocolate bars and everyone is welcome.  Please contact Mr. Plant if you have any additional questions at cplant@saanichschools.ca

 

NEW –  AP Physics: Cardboard Boat Competition

Claremont's AP Physics Class competed in their annual Cardboard Boat Competition at Commonwealth Pool on Wednesday.  Six teams competed for top spot, and it was Binaya and Harrison that took home the first place trophy.  Congratulations!!

 

NEW - Found: Debit Card

A debit card was found in the theatre after the Night of Dance shows. Please come to the office to claim in. 

 

Found: Invisalign

An Invisalign clear dental brace was found at the end of lunch on Friday. Please come to the office to claim it.

 

Bling out your Book!!
Come to the Learning Commons and bedazzle your books!  Every MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY at lunchtime until the end of classes, bring a friend and we’ll supply the rhinestones and tools…YOU bring your book! Or journal! Or planner!  And we’ll have bookmarks to bling out too!  See Mrs. Wadsworth for more info!

NEW – Rowing

What an unforgettable week of racing. The CSI Rowing team has officially returned from the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Championships in Ontario, and we are thrilled to announce that your Spartans are NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in two events; they also made the podium in 4 other races and had outstanding results in others. 

Winning GOLD 

  1. Emil Neuyemer in the Junior Men's Single.

  2. Kiva, Aaron, Myles, Tim, Emil, Joao, Linden, Evan, and Matt in the Junior Men’s Eight (making CSI history with Claremont's first ever 8 race win at CSSRA) 

Winning SILVER

  1. the Senior Men Eight

  2. the Junior Men Double, and 

  3. the Junior Men 72.5kg Coxed Four

Winning BRONZE

 - the Senior Men Coxed Four
Other outstanding results:

1) Zoie in the Junior Single, achieving 7th overall as a grade 9 in a U17 event, 

2) Rosie, Paige, Tamsin and Kim in the U19 Women’s Quad, racing in the A final.

NEW - Night of Dance

Congratulations to all dancers who were involved in performing in Night of Dance!  This was an amazing 2-night showcase of fantastic choreography and dance talents that wowed the audience. Bravo to all of you!.

NEW – International Student Farewell Party: June 12

All international students: please attend our Claremont International Student farewell party THIS FRIDAY at lunch in the Big Gym. Bring your flag for friends to sign and enjoy an ice cream from the ice cream truck on us.

NEW – Grad Yearbook Picnic: June 15

The grad yearbook picnic will be THIS MONDAY June 15, 2:00-4:00.  Pick up your food coupons on MONDAY any time before 2:00 from Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office. 

 

¬ FUNDRAISING

NEW – Craft Fair: June 10-15

A group of YCI students are running a craft fair in the Student Lounge TODAY, FRIDAY, and MONDAY at lunch.  All money raised will be donated to the Victoria Women’s Transition House.  Come by to see what creations we have made and support an important cause.  Thank you for your support.

 

Bottle Drive: June 13

A group of IGS 12 students is running a bottle drive THIS SATURDAY June 13, 9:00-1:00 in the student parking lot.  No sorting required…. simply drop off and drive away. All funds raised will go to support The Wanted Children Foundation, whose mission is to provide care, housing, education, and a future to orphaned and vulnerable children in Nigeria. Thank you for your support.  Your donations will directly help these children.

 

¬ CAREER CENTRE

REMINDER – Work Experience 12

Are you working over the summer (and into the coming school year)? Sign up for Work Experience 12!  In order to log hours over the summer, you need to meet with Mr. Bussoli FIRST.  Hours DO NOT COUNT toward WEx12, unless you have submitted the required paperwork before the summer.  See Mrs. Watson in the Career Centre to book an appointment with Mr. Bussoli, as soon as possible.

 

NEW – Volunteer Opportunity

Make friends, build skills, and share your culture by volunteering with the Global Learning & Language Centre at Royal Roads!  The GLLC welcomes international students who are visiting Canada, through fun and memorable discussion activities and student-led panels. Volunteer Opportunity for Student Golfers & Student Golf Enthusiasts! 

Do you play golf or love the game? Student volunteers are needed to help at BC Cancer’s “Lawrence’s Drive for a Cure” golf tournament on July 24th at Cordova Bay Golf Course. 

Volunteer opportunities may include:
• Hole support
• Registration
• Player assistance
• Event setup & coordination
• On-course activities

Volunteer hours will be fully credited and reference letters will be provided

The ḰELSET PAC Spring Fair is still looking for high school students to volunteer to help run the carnival games at ḰELSET Elementary, THIS FRIDAY June 12 from 5-8pm. 

Do you remember how much fun your elementary school spring fairs were when you were a kid??  Earn volunteer hours and have fun doing it!.  You know this will be a fun event, and this is their biggest fund-raiser of the year!! Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
