¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Parent Teacher Interviews & Revised Class Schedule – Nov.27

Semester ONE Parent Teacher interviews will be held in person at the school THIS THURSDAY Nov 27th. The LINK to book interview times goes live at 5pm TONIGHT

Revised Class Schedule – Nov.27

There will be a revised class schedule to accommodate the evening interviews.

Block 1   9:00-10:06

Block 2  10:12-11:18

Lunch    11:18-11:54

Block 3  11:54-1:00

Block 4    1:06-2:12

 

Photo Packages & Student ID Cards

Reminder that there are still many school photo packages and student ID cards in the office.  Please come by to pick yours up. 

 

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW - Jr Boys Volleyball

Our Jr Boys Volleyball team participated in the Highschool BC Volleyball Championships in Burnaby this past weekend.  Congratulations to the team on winning silver at the BC's. The team played hard, and the competition was fierce.  Tavi MIGUEL and Reece RAVELLI were named first team all stars; Cole CARTER was our "team" all star. Throughout the season, all players played with grit and a impressive competitiveness, contributing to our success. Go Spartans!

 

NEW – Girls Beginner Lacrosse

For Semester 2 Girl's Beginner Lacrosse Students: there will be a meeting THIS WEDNESDAY, Nov. 26 at the beginning of lunch in the small gym.  This is for NEW students to confirm the size of lacrosse shorts they want to order.

 

NEW – CSI rowing

A select few experienced crews from CSI Rowing had the opportunity to race this past weekend at the Head of Shawnigan Regatta! This regatta was the longest distance the athletes will race this year, at 6.5km! CSI had 5 crews race, four of them finishing 1st place, and one third place! Special shoutout to Isla, Chet, Rosie, and Alec for their first race outside of high-school season and racing in an experienced event! Go Spartans!

 

NEW - Field Hockey

Field Hockey Players: please check your email for information about our "end of season pizza party" this WEDNESDAY, Nov. 26 right after school, 3:30 to approx. 4:30pm (room to be confirmed). PLEASE RETURN YOUR UNIFORM ASAP!!!                                               

 

¬ FINE ARTS

NEW - Concert Band Performance - Nov 26th

Our Claremont Concert Band is partnering with the Greater Victoria Concert Band for their “Heroes Among Us” musical event, performing THIS WEDNESDAY Nov. 26th in our Ridge Theatre, 7:00-9:00pm. Come enjoy an evening of beautiful music. Admission will be by donation at the door. Everyone welcome. 

 

¬ CLUBS

NEW – Claremont Robotics

Your Claremont Robotics Teams started off their new season against 24 other teams from across Vancouver Island this past weekend at Shawnigan Lake.  Claremont dominated and won 7 out of 9 possible awards, including Best Robot, Top Skills Score, and Tournament Champions.  Special shout out to Justin, Jakob, YiFan and Marshal on Team 1022E who won a trophy in their very first tournament.  Go Spartans!!!

 

NEW – Peer Tutors

For students interested in being Peer Tutors!! There will be a meeting THIS FRIDAY, Nov. 28 at lunch time in the Learning Commons. See Ms. Giese or Mrs. Wadsworth for more information.

 

Reminder – Homework Club

Homework Club is up and running! Please drop in MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY every week, 3:15-4:15, in Room 235. Support is also available before school on TUESDAY mornings from 8:00-8:50.

 

Debate Club

Do you yearn for debate and discussion? Join Debate Club!  It runs TODAY and every MONDAY at lunch in room 235.

Winter Floral Fundraiser

The CSI Lacrosse Academy is hosting a winter fundraiser of holiday florals: poinsettias, wreaths, greenery arrangements, succulent bowls, and even a few festive plushies.  Funds go toward program costs and student travel.  This is the LINK to explore and order your winter florals. Vancouver Island University will have an info table on WEDNESDAY Dec.1st at lunch in the front foyer. Come check out VIU programs and entrance requirements!

 

Volunteer Opportunity:  Basic Yard Maintenance

Post-Secondary BC (PSBC) – Nov.25

Post-Secondary BC (PSBC) is coming to Claremont TOMORROW (TUESDAY), 1:00-2:30 in the Learning Commons. The following BC schools will be participating:

RRU - Royal Roads University

UBC - University of British Columbia

UNBC - University of Northern British Columbia

UVic - University of Victoria

If your class is not attending, individual students may attend (with teacher permission), for 15-20 minutes, during Block 3 or 4.

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
