¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Photo Packages

A new batch of school photo packages arrived. If you ordered photos, please come pick yours up in the office. 

 

NEW – Retake Photo ID Card

The retake photo ID cards arrived.  Please come pick yours up in the office 

 

Vending Machines

A reminder that the new snack and drink vending machines at Claremont are PROGRAMMABLE for the times that they operate.  They WILL NOT work during class time.  They will only work before school, during breaks, and after school. 

 

AP Bio

For all students interested or enrolled in AP Biology next semester, there will be a brief meeting TOMORROW (THURDAY) at lunch in Ms. McAvoy's Room (Room 200). See you then!

 

Copernican Days Nov 4 & 5

REVISED CLASS SCHEDULE

TODAY, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per dayPlease note the revised Class Schedule:

WEDNESDAY NOV. 4

Block 2: 9:00 – 11:45 (all morning)

Block 4: 12:30 – 3:10 (all afternoon)

 

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW – Jr Boys Basketball

To the grade 9 & 10 boys not listed on the ‘A’ team posted outside the PE office and wanting to be a part of a ‘B’ team (or possibly a Grade 9 team): there is a very important meeting TODAY at lunch in the main gym.  If you can’t be there, please see Mr Buckham or Mr Dunlop to make sure your name is on the list.  Tryouts and practices will start next week and coaches are being looked for.

 

NEW – Jr Girls Basketball

Practice and tryouts for Jr Girls basketball is TODAY @ 5:15 in the main gym, and THURSDAY after school in the small gym. Attendance is important, as the team is being selected this week. Please see Ms. Dheensaw if you can’t attend.

 

NEW – Sr Girls Volleyball

Congratulations to the Sr Girls Volleyball team who hosted and won the Lower Island Championships. The girls swept Belmont 2-0 in the semi-finals, and then did the same to Oak Bay in the finals...winning 25-18, 25-8! It was a total team effort with everyone contributing to the win. Go Spartans!

 

NEW – Rugby

If you are interested in playing rugby this year for the Claremont Spartans, we have sign-up meetings happening this week. 

Girls’ rugby will meet TODAY at lunch in Room 134 (Mr. Belvedere’s room).

Boys’ rugby will meet on FRIDAY at lunch, also in Room 134.

No experience needed – everyone is welcome.

Come learn about the season, training, and how to get involved. Come join the Spartan rugby family — we’ll see you there!

Winter Floral Fundraiser

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
