¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Vending Machines

Claremont, we have new snack and drink vending machines in the building!!  Please note that they are PROGRAMMABLE for the times that they operate.  They WILL NOT work during class time.  They will only work before school, during breaks, and after school. 

 

NEW – AP Bio

For all students interested or enrolled in AP Biology next semester, there will be a brief meeting THIS THURDAY at lunch in Ms. McAvoy's Room (Room 200). See you then!

 

NEW – Copernican Days Nov 4 & 5

REVISED CLASS SCHEDULE

THIS TUESDAY Nov 4 and WEDNESDAY November 5, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per day.  Please note the revised Class Schedule:

TUESDAY NOV. 3

Block 1: 9:00 – 11:45 (all morning)

Block 3: 12:30 – 3:10 (all afternoon)

 

WEDNESDAY NOV. 4

Block 2: 9:00 – 11:45 (all morning)

Block 4: 12:30 – 3:10 (all afternoon)

 

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW – Cross-Country

Congratulations to our Cross Country team for their success at the Provincial Championships this past weekend.  The Boys’ team took the bronze and were only 10 points behind the eventual winner.  The Girls’ team placed 4th, only 13 points behind second.  3rd and 4th place in the Province is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to the entire team and Coach Winkler.

 

NEW – Jr Girls Basketball

Practice and tryouts for Jr Girls basketball is THIS WEDNESDAY @ 5:15 in the main gym, and THURSDAY after school in the small gym. Attendance is important, as the team is being selected this week. Please see Ms. Dheensaw if you can’t attend.

 

NEW – Jr Boys Volleyball

Congratulations to the Jr. Boys Volleyball Team, who continued with their undefeated season, winning the Jr. Boys Lower Island Championships (again).  Next up will be the Island Championships in Courtenay at the end of this week.

Winter Floral Fundraiser

NEW - District #63 HAIR Program Demo – Nov.4

District #63 HAIR Program Students are visiting Claremont to demonstrate their hairstyling skills TOMORROW (TUESDAY) at lunchtime in the Student lounge. Six student volunteers have signed up to get their hair styled. Come and watch the styling in real time!

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
