¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Pajama Day: Oct. 10

Our next school-wide theme day is THIS FRIDAY.  It's PAJAMA DAY!  Wear your favourite pj's, slippers and cozy outfits to show some school spirit.

 

NEW - Spring Break 2026 Trip – France, Italy & Greece

If you are interested in joining a trip to France, Italy & Greece this Spring Break, please see Mrs. Laws for details.  The deadline is approaching, so don't delay!

 

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW - CSI Rowing

What a weekend!!  Our CSI rowers dominated the LVISSAA October Sprints at Elk Lake. The event saw over ten high schools from across Lower Vancouver Island compete in single, double, quads and eights. 

Congratulations to all CSI rowers!  Here are some standout events:

- On SATURDAY, our novices competed for the first time ever and won both of their quad events. The novice 8+ also came 2nd place out of 19 teams.

- On SUNDAY, CSI dominated in the open quad event, coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in a 6-boat final, out of 35 boats.

-Our Senior Mens 8+ brought home gold in the Open 8+ Category!

Shout out to everyone who came to cheer on our rowers!  The next regatta is November 1 & 2 at Elk Lake.

 

Field Hockey

All field hockey players: reminder that our game TODAY starts at 3:30.  Please make sure you have a ride arranged to be at UVic by 3:00pm, or see Ms. Taylor if you need a ride.

 

NEW - Sr Girls BasketBall Tryouts

Sr Girls Basketball tryouts are next week on WEDNESDAY October 15 @ 5:15, and THURSDAY October 16 @ 3:15 in the small gym. You must attend 1 tryout to be considered for the team. See or email Ms. Dheensaw (mdheensaw@saanichschools.ca) for questions.

 

Sr Boys BasketBall Tryouts

To all Grade 11 and 12 boys who are interested in playing basketball this season: the first two tryouts of the year will be happening next week on WEDNESDAY Oct 15th and SUNDAY Oct 19th at 7pm.  Players must show up to at least one of these two tryouts to be considered for either our Sr Boys ‘A’ or Sr Boys ‘B’ Team!

Grad Wear Orders

Grad Wear is available to order. This is your chance to buy Grad 2026 hoodies, sweat pants, shirts, and lanyards. Order forms are at the Accounting office. Forms and payment are due on THURSDAY October 23rd.

NEW – Bottle Drive - Saturday Oct. 18

Claremont Model United Nations is hosting a Bottle Drive on SATURDAY Oct. 18, 10:00-3:00; this will be a drive-through in the Claremont bus loop.  We are collecting all ready-to-drink containers. Thank you for your support, as the Claremont Model United Nations prepares to attend one of the largest conferences in North America.

 

¬ CAREER CENTRE

Police Camp Meeting – Oct.8

Police Camp is back, for Spring Break 2026!  Police Camp is a unique youth leadership program for students in Grades 10-12 that have an interest in exploring policing and public safety.

Students will spend one week experiencing classroom lectures, physical activity, group discussions and simulations supervised by dozens of police staff. If you are interested in attending Police Camp, please come to an information meeting TODAY at 12:00 in the Learning Commons.  Then see Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre (Room 217) to apply. Application Deadline: Nov 14, 2025

 

University of King’s College Info – Oct. 10

A representative from University of King's College in Halifax will be visiting Claremont to answer your questions about their programs and student life at King's. THIS FRIDAY Oct 10 @ lunch in the foyer near the front of school.

 

NEW – Camosun College Info – Oct. 14

Camosun College will be visiting Claremont on TUESDAY Oct 14 @ lunch in the front entrance foyer. Come by the info table to hear about their programs and the application process.

 

Volunteer Victoria Fair – Oct. 15

Are you interested in volunteering? The Volunteer Victoria FAIR is happening again this year, on WEDNESDAY, October 15 in the Learning Commons, 9:30-11:30.

If your class is not attending, individual students may attend (with teacher permission), for 15-20 minutes, during Block 1 or 2.

 

Health Career Info at Camosun – Oct.15

Are you a Grade 11 or 12 student interested in a career in Health?  Health X Day is happening at Camosun on WEDNESDAY October 15th.  Sign up with Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre (Room 217).  The deadline to apply is October 10th.

 

Sailor For A Day – Oct.24

Are you interested in finding out about the Navy? Spend the day with the Navy in Esquimalt, during the Sailor for a Day event!  Meet sailors, try activities and watch live demonstrations. 

This event is all day on FRIDAY October 24, 2025. (Non-Instructional Day). See Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre (Room 217), if you're interested in attending. Deadline for sign up: Friday, October 17.

Volunteer Opportunity – Oct.25

Cordova Bay Elementary School is looking for volunteers for their annual Hoot n' Howl!  The event is on SATURDAY October 25th from 4:30-8:00pm.  Volunteers will help set up, run games & contests, help out at different stations and then help take down decorations at the end of the night. “Parents as Education & Career Coaches” Virtual Session – Oct.29

Education Planner BC is hosting a virtual session of “Parents as Education & Career Coaches” on WEDNESDAY, Oct 29, 6:30pm - 7:45pm.

Parents, families, and supporters are invited to register HERE to join our virtual presentation. Learn about post-secondary education and career opportunities, and resources to support your student in planning for their future. The information will be especially helpful for families with students in grades 10-12.

Search thousands of programs, get to know trades, and discover career paths. Find helpful resources, including financial aid options, admission requirements, FAQs, and the Glossary. Learn how to create an account, save programs, paths, and careers to My List, and apply to post-secondary in B.C.

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
