Computer Contest 

Any student interested in writing the Waterloo Computer Contest in February, please see Mr. Beeston in Rm 236 to sign up. The deadline is February 13th. 

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home pageunder the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW – The Junior Varsity Boys basketball team pulled off a rare achievement on Wednesday night: they played a perfect league season.  This sets up a very exciting upcoming week and we’d love your support.  We are now hosting the Victoria Police City Championships. Our first game is Thursday night at 7:15pm.  A win will mean another game Friday night at 7:15pm.  HUGE thanks to Zig and all who have supported the team.

NEW - Volunteer Opportunity

Cardova Bay United Church is looking for 1-3 students to help with Audio/Visual during services and their website.  Training is provided as needed, hours for the Audio/Visual help are Sundays for 2 hours. Website volunteer hours are flexible.

Job Fair

The Butchart Gardens is having a Job Fair on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:30 – 7:30pm. 

  • They are recruiting for spring and summer employment in most departments.

Volunteer Opportunity

If you are interested in Teaching, or working as an Education Assistant or Early Childhood Educator, and you have a SPARE or altered class schedule. A kindergarten teacher at Cordova Bay Elementary is looking for student volunteers to observe and help in her classroom.

  • The commitment is flexible, from 1-2 hours at a time, 1-3 days per week. 

  • You would need your own transportation and permission from your parent/guardian.

  • Earn volunteer hours doing something interesting and fun, that could influence your career path!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
