NEW - Found
A cell phone was found in the gym this morning. And a gold-tone ring was found in Ms Ostrovsky’s classroom yesterday morning. If you think these belong to you, please come to the office to claim them.
Twin Day – Feb.14
TODAY is TWIN DAY!! It is great to see so many matching creative outfits in the school!
Course Information Evening - Feb 22
NEXT THURSDAY Feb 22nd will be an early dismissal day (ending at 2:12pm). Our Claremont Course Information Evening will run from 5:00-8:30pm. This evening will provide opportunities for:
- Gr 8-11 students & parents (Gr 8’s making the transition from ROMS to Claremont) to learn about and make informed decisions regarding course selection for the 2024-25 school year.
- Current Gr 9-12 parents to meet Sem 2 teachers at various points throughout the evening; most teaching staff will be present from 6:00-8:00pm in their classrooms, unless they are involved in one of our presentations.
We will be providing a wide variety of general course selection information & reminders, as well as specialty program and CSI academy information, with the following schedule:
5:00-5:30pm Out of Catchment Registration Info (for Students/Families New to the District) in the Theatre
5:45-6:30pm CSI Info Meeting (general intro + split into 4 academies: Lacrosse, Rowing, Golf, Swimming) that starts in the Theatre
6:45-7:30pm Grade 8 Student/Parent Info Session (Theatre)
Grade 9-11 Student/Parent Info Session (Big Gym)
7:45-8:05pm Specialty Program Discussion:
PEP (Learning Commons); FOFA (Theatre); IGS (Room 264)
8:10-8:30pm Specialty Program Discussion REPEATED:
PEP (Learning Commons); FOFA (Theatre); IGS (Room 264) to allow parents/students to attend up to 2 specialty program sessions )
** Note: if families have any downtime in between sessions, they are encouraged to meet & check in with members of our teaching staff who will be stationed in their regular teaching classrooms. **These meetings are designed to connect and learn about course overviews/expectations (as opposed to discussing individual student learning needs). Student-specific discussions can take place at the Parent/Teacher Conferences on April 25th.
Regional South Island Skills Canada Competitions
Registration for this year's Regional South Island Skills Canada Competitions will be open soon! Online or face-to-face competitions will be held, covering areas like automotive, baking, hairstyling, welding, electronics, pipe trades, job search, photography, and more... Competitions will be in March, with the deadline for registration mid-February. See Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre (Room 217) if you are interested in competing.

Valentine’s Music Café – Feb.14
TONIGHT is our Valentine’s Music Café @ 7pm in the Learning Commons. Buy your tickets at lunch at the theatre box office to enjoy an evening of fun music, refreshments and silent auction treasures. Come support our very talented students! Tickets are $15.

NEW - Sr Boys A Basketball
Congratulations to our Sr Boys A Basketball Team, who beat the Belmont Bulldogs in their first game of the playoffs in thrilling fashion last night. Josh CARSON hit 3 free throws at the end of the game to send it to overtime, and Dak AWOR hit two free throws to put the game out of reach at the end of overtime for a 77-72 victory! Well done boys, and good luck at Islands next week!
Badminton
If you are interested in playing badminton, the next drop-in session is TONIGHT from 5:15-6:45pm in the big gym! PE strip is mandatory and please bring your own racket if you have one.
Lacrosse – Bottle Drive – Feb.17
The Lacrosse programs will be running a bottle drive THIS SATURDAY Feb.17, 9:00-1:00 in the bus loop at the front of the school. This is a great opportunity to get rid of your returnables, while supporting our lacrosse athletes.

The registration deadline for the Pascal/Cayley/Fermat math contests is TOMORROW (THURSDAY) Feb 15th. Sign up on the bulletin board outside room 133, or see Mr Skanks before lunch for details. Contests run THURSDAY, Feb 29th in block 1.

Grad Fundraiser – Victoria Royals Tickets

Cordova Bay United Church (next door to Claremont) is looking for 1-2 student volunteers to run the PowerPoints and to livestream, during the church services. Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization (PEMO) – March Field Trip Alert!
PEMO is hosting an open house at the Sidney Fire Hall in March. Date is still to be determined, but it will be a day of learning what life is like working in emergency response and what career and volunteer opportunities are available. ¬ NEWS FROM CLAREMONT PAC
Planning for New PAC Exec As we plan ahead - the AGM to vote for the new CPAC Exec for the 2024/25 school year will take place in May. This year we have 3 Exec members leaving with students in grade 12 graduating. We have begun our recruitment early!
See the link below for the CPAC Constitution which details high-level the different roles. Please reach out to claremontpacsd63@gmail.com if you’re interested. The team is open to discussing any details to help fulfill these roles. Please note that the time commitment is significantly less vs. Elementary or Middle School PACS, which will help with parent busy schedules.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health).
