THE CHRONICLE

Friday September 6, 2024

WELCOME to the 2024-2025 School Year!!

¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Bus Passes

If your student has registered for the school bus and did not pick up their bus pass yet, they can pick it up from Mrs. Waller in the Accounting Office.  You must have your bus pass to ride the bus.

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home page, under the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

Cafeteria Service

Once the Cafeteria class is up and running, there will be a tasty selection of lunch meals and treats offered in the cafeteria.  For the first week or so of classes, there will be pizza for sale at lunch.  $2.50 per slice. Cash only.

School Photo Day – Sept 12

Photo Day is THURSDAY morning Sept 12 for all grades!!!  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  In approximately 3-4 weeks, Lifetouch will send us student I.D. cards for every student.  If you wish to order photos, please go to Lifetouch directly: you will need to go to “www.lifetouch.ca” for more information after the initial photo sessions have taken place.

Return Forms

Reminder for students to please return their Student Information Verification Forms and locker selection forms to the office TODAY September 6. There will be a bin on the outside office counter to drop off the forms.

Lockers/Locks

Students who need a lock or locker, please see Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office for a lock OR a locker selection form.

Course Changes

It is our hope that there will be minimal changes with student timetables. Those wishing any changes to their timetable must have this completed prior to the end of the day TODAY Sept 6.  We ask that all course change requests are made by filling out the course change form (on the back of every student timetable) and submitting it to the office.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.
