National Day for Truth & Reconciliation - FRIDAY Sept 30
FRIDAY Sept. 30 will be the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is to honour the lost children & survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, learn from the past, and make changes for the present and future. Students will not be in session on FRIDAY.

Orange Shirt Day TODAY
TODAY at Claremont, we are honouring the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools by wearing orange. Thank you to all staff and students who are wearing orange to join together in support.
CSI Lacrosse Bottle Drive – Oct. 1
The CSI Lacrosse Academy is hosting a bottle drive THIS SATURDAY October 1, 9:00-1:00, at Claremont. Thank you for your support!
Tour de Rock – Oct.6
Tour de Rock is coming to Claremont on THURSDAY Oct.6. We have a school goal of raising $2500! We are asking that every student & staff member donate $2 (or more!) to their Block 3 class or the donation bins at the front office. Donations will be collected from MONDAY October 3rd until the TDR team arrives on THURSDAY Oct 6. A giant cheque will be presented to the team in the amount of our donations!
Ms. Linger’s brother, Jeff Duyndam, is the Principal of Tillicum Elementary and is one of this year’s guest riders with the Tour. Mr. Duyndam is a former Saanich teacher and may have taught some of you at Bayside, Royal Oak or the CDC.
Spartan Day & CC350 – Oct. 6
October 6th is also this year’s first official Spartan Day! Wear your Elements colour, donate towards the Tour de Rock and fight against cancer! Donate in your Block 3 class or at the front office.
Come outside and enjoy an extended lunch with food trucks, games and the CC350! The CC350 has become a great Claremont tradition where students and staff ride 350 laps around the track in teams to raise awareness around climate change. After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

Cross Country
Great races by many yesterday at our cross country event, but a special shout-out to Mady EAMES for winning the Senior Girls race at Lambrick Park! Congrats!!
Tennis
Tennis anyone? All students are welcome to join the Tennis Club for recreational play on WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS after school on the lower courts. Bring your own racquet; tennis balls are provided. See Mr. Gardner with any questions.

Grad Portraits: October 11-21
Grads Photos start soon! Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Claremont for a limited time: October 11 – 21. Grads can start booking appointments now. Please go to the LINK either 1) on the Claremont website under “Latest School News” or 2) on the Grad Google Classroom. Enter your province (BC), your city (Victoria) and your school (Claremont) to log in and book your appointment. Don't put this off until later, or all of the on-site appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time. A sitting fee of $30 (cash or cheque) is due at the time of your appointment (however, if you know you are not purchasing photos later, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).

CUE is a great opportunity to connect with University representatives from 50+ Institutions across Canada, and learn more about Post Secondary Options! For this event, priority is given to Grade 12 students, but Grade 11 students are also welcome.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
