National Day for Truth & Reconciliation - FRIDAY Sept 30

FRIDAY Sept. 30 will be the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is to honour the lost children & survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, learn from the past, and make changes for the present and future. Students will not be in session on FRIDAY.

Every Child Matters.

 

Orange Shirt Day – THURSDAY Sept 29

TOMORROW (THURSDAY) at Claremont, we will honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools by wearing orange. For all staff and students, please wear orange, and you are invited to join together in a walk around the track at 8:30am in support of Orange Shirt Day.

For our Indigenous leadership team: please come for a lunch meeting TODAY in the Culture Room.

 

CSI Lacrosse Bottle Drive – Oct. 1

The CSI Lacrosse Academy is hosting a bottle drive THIS SATURDAY October 1, 9:00-1:00, at Claremont. Thank you for your support!

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

Tennis

Tennis anyone?  All students are welcome to join the Tennis Club for recreational play on WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS after school on the lower courts.  Bring your own racquet; tennis balls are provided.  See Mr. Gardner with any questions.

The YCI Club (Youth for Change and Inclusion) will be having their first meeting TODAY at lunch in room 324 (Ms. Milne's room).  New members are welcome!  YCI promotes positivity, mental wellness, and inclusion at Claremont and in the community.

 

GSA

The Gender and Sexuality Alliance "GSA" will be having their first meeting TOMORROW (THURSDAY) at lunch in room 320. Everyone welcome!  Email or see Ms. G-C if you want more information.

Grad Portraits: October 11-21

Grads Photos start soon!  Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Claremont for a limited time: October 11 – 21. Grads can start booking appointments now. Please go to the LINK either 1) on the Claremont website under “Latest School News” or 2) on the Grad Google Classroom. Enter your province (BC), your city (Victoria) and your school (Claremont) to log in and book your appointment. Don't put this off until later, or all of the on-site appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time.  A sitting fee of $30 (cash or cheque) is due at the time of your appointment (however, if you know you are not purchasing photos later, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).

Canadian Universities Event (CUE) – Oct.4

CUE is a great opportunity to connect with University representatives from 50+ Institutions across Canada, and learn more about Post Secondary Options!  For this event, priority is given to Grade 12 students, but Grade 11 students are also welcome.

TUESDAY, October 4, 12:30-2:00 at Stelly's High School.  Bus Transportation will be provided (no independent driving)!  Sign up and hand in the Field Trip Form to Mrs. Watson's office (Room 222)

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office. We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!

 

A copy of the announcements is posted on the wall outside of the main office door.
