Meet the Teacher Night TONIGHT – Sept 22

We invite parents and guardians to join us for “Meet the Teacher” Night TONIGHT.  The night will begin with a short presentation from our new Admin team in the Large Gym at 5:30pm, followed by a rotation of classes (15 min blocks) to find out more about their child’s teachers/classes.   Please remember to bring a photo of your child's timetable and speak to them about the locations of their classrooms.  We will have signage posted and helpers to direct you if needed.

Early Closure and Revised Class Schedule for TODAY

The class schedule is revised to allow for early closure.

Block 1:   9:00 - 10:06

Block 2: 10:12 - 11:18

Lunch:   11:18 - 11:54

Block 4:  1:06  - 2:12

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) after school 3:15-4:15 in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. All students in all grades are welcome.

 

Found: Insulin Injector

If you have lost an insulin injector, one was found in the school and can be picked up the office.

 

Salad Bar

The salad bar is open again at lunch, MONDAYS – THURSDAYS. Come enjoy fresh greens from the garden and toppings!

 

Iceland Trip

For all students going to Iceland over Spring Break: there is an important meeting TODAY at lunch in room 327.  There are a few spots left; if you are interested, please come to the meeting.  Group leader is Dave Gardner: dgardner@saanichschools.ca

Are you interested in signing up a team for the cc350?  Sign-up TODAY  at lunch in the IGS room (264). There is room for a few more teams who are up to the challenge of cycling around the track 350 times!.  Sign-up fee is either $10 per person or $100 per team. Questions? Field Hockey

The Claremont field hockey team won their first game of the season 4-2 over SMUS yesterday. At one point the game was tied 2-2 but the girls worked hard on a very hot turf field to score two more unanswered goals! Go Spartans!

 

Field Hockey girls:  there is a meeting TODAY at lunch (11:30) in the small gym.

 

Swim Team

If you are interested in participating on the Claremont Swim Team this year, please come to a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 225.

The YCI Club (Youth for Change and Inclusion) will be having their first meeting NEXT WEDNESDAY (Sept 26) at lunch in room 324 (Ms. Milne's room).  New members are welcome!  Come by and see what we are all about!

University Visit – Sept 26

A representative from UVic Gustavson School of Business will be at Claremont THIS MONDAY Sept 26 at lunch time in the Student Lounge. A great chance to find out about their business program!

 

Canadian Universities Event (CUE) – Oct.4

CUE is a great opportunity to connect with University representatives from 50+ Institutions across Canada, and learn more about Post Secondary Options!  Priority is given to Grade 12 students, but Grade 11 students are also welcome.

TUESDAY, October 4, 12:30-2:00 at Stelly's High School.  Bus Transportation will be provided (no independent driving)!  Sign up and hand in the Field Trip Form to Mrs. Watson's office (Room 222)

Canadian Tire Royal Oak is hiring part time cashiers and floor staff for all departments.

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office. We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
