¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEWEarly Dismissal

Today is an early closure day, students should follow the “class early bell schedule" and will be dismissed at 2:12pm.  School buses will run on their normal schedules today.

NEW - Meet the Teacher Evening – TONIGHT September 19, 2024

We wanted to provide a few quick reminders to all of our parents/guardians who are planning on attending our "Meet the Teacher" event that is happening tonight at the school:

All parents/guardians who plan on attending should talk to their student(s) ahead of time to get a sense of their Semester 1 classrooms and teachers so that they know where to go for each of the blocks listed below.  One of the easiest methods would be to take a photo of your student's timetable so that you have something to double check during the evening; we will have school maps available along with student/staff helpers that you can check in with if you are unsure where to go!

A reminder that the main purpose of the evening is for teachers to introduce themselves, share a brief course overview, identify the most effective means of communication, and to answer any general questions regarding the scope of the class.  Those parents/guardians who would like to discuss more specific information related to their child will either need to send an email at the conclusion of the evening or arrange a separate appointment with those teachers you would like to speak with.

We do have an initial general welcome assembly that starts early at 5:30pm; this assembly is primarily intended for all of our parents/guardians that are NEW to Claremont, but everyone is welcome just the same!

There will be a small selection of teaching staff who will be absent tomorrow night (most due to illness); we will have a list of these staff posted at the front so that you can plan accordingly when moving from class to class.

The schedule for the evening will be as follows:

  • 5:30 - 5:55 Parent/Guardian Welcome from Admin in Big Gym
  • 6:00 - 6:15 AM Classes  (Ex: Concert Band, Jazz Band, Morn BBall, PEP, Strength)
  • 6:20 - 6:35 Block 1 Class
  • 6:40 - 6:55 Block 2 Class
  • 7:00 - 7:15 Block 3 Class
  • 7:20 - 7:35 Block 4 Class
  • 7:40 - 7:55 PM Classes  (Ex: Choir, Stagecraft, Yearbook, Leadership)

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home page, under the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

Cafeteria Service

This week (Sept 16-20) our regular selection of Cafeteria food will be available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Wednesday and Friday there will be pizza.  The Cafeteria can accept cash, cards and apple/google pay.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.
