¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW – For any students interested in taking AP Biology in Semester 2 this year, there will be a brief but important meeting at lunch in Room 203 (Mr. Homan’s Room) on WEDNESDAY September 18. See you there!
Field Trips
Do you want to go to Italy, France and Spain this July 2025? Come to a meeting TOMORROW September 17 at lunch with Ms. Wells in Rm. 312. We will be exploring beaches, historical sites, castles, cathedrals and eating fabulous food. Travel to Europe with all your friends this summer!
Parent Volunteers/Drivers
Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time. The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home page, under the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.
Cafeteria Service
NEW - This week (Sept 16-20) our regular selection of Cafeteria food will be available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday and Friday there will be pizza. The Cafeteria can accept cash, cards and apple/google pay.
School Photo Day
In approximately 3-4 weeks, Lifetouch will send us student I.D. cards for every student. If you wish to order photos, please go to Lifetouch directly: you will need to go to https://my.lifetouch.ca/mylifetouch/#/ for more information after the initial photo sessions have taken place.
If a Student is Absent or Late
Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

Aquatics (Mrs. Harris) – Those interested in swimming for the Claremont swim team this year must attend a meeting in the Large Gym TOMORROW September 17 at lunch time.

¬ CLUBS
NEW - Trivia Club will be every Tuesday at lunch in Rm. 323. Join in for some friendly competition. Prizes every week!
Breakfast Club will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning before school starts. Come to the Spartan store to grab a juice box and/or a bagel with cream cheese or jam etc. for .50 cents each.
Homework Club runs daily Monday through Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Room 235. It is a great space where you can drop in and get some homework done before you head home! Teaching is not provided but an EA is available to support the group... See you there!
Math Club meets on Fridays at lunchtime – Rm. 130
Knitting & Crochet Club meets every Thursday at lunch in Ms. Tong’s room (323).

Bottle drive – SATURDAY Sept 21 from 9am to 3pm. The Claremont Lacrosse Academy will be handing out flyers in pick up areas – if you receive a flyer, please leave your empties out by 930am and they will pick up from you otherwise you can drop them off at Claremont.
Mark your calendars! The next bottle drive will be on OCTOBER 19. Details to come.

Important Message for Grade 12’s – Dual Credit Courses – Semester 2
See Mr. Bussoli ASAP if you are interested in enrolling in a Business course (Acct110, Bus140, Econ103, Mark110) or Psych130 for Semester 2. There are spaces left in those courses, but students must fully register by THURSDAY September 19! If you have already signed up for a Dual Credit course, please check the Google Classroom to make sure your registration is complete!

The due date for joining the CUE (Canadian Universities Event) has been extended! The event is coming to Parkland Secondary TOMORROW September 17. We have been invited to attend during Block 3. If you are interested in this event, please come to the Career Centre (Room 217) to pick up the Field Trip form and hand it in TODAY September 16!

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
