School Photos

Photo Retake Day will be held on the morning of THURSDAY October 24.  This is for all students who wish to have their photo redone or for those who missed photo day in early September.  All students in every grade need to have a photo for identification purposes; purchasing a photo package is optional and can be done online through www.lifetouch.ca.  Photo proof packages will be handed out this week!

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home page, under the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW - Rowing

Huge Congratulations to the Spartan Rowers. We had a very strong showing at our first regatta of the year this past weekend.  The results from this regatta will seed the placings into the LVISSAA City Champs in two weeks. The performances this past weekend put us into a very good position to claim even more of the top spots in the city. There were many very close races and many very dominating performances (sometimes winning races by over 10 seconds). There was a total of 16 schools, 361 athletes making up 147 entries.  Some highlights:  On Saturday, everybody was in the top final for their event.  Particularly the eights (8 rowers and a coxswain), we had 4 out of the 5 spots in the top final being Claremont!  This was out of 15 boats; our novice quad (4 rowers) entry was ranked 2nd overall but were first in their category, beating out other higher category athletes, as part of a field of 41 crews; Sunday saw us entering 8 out of 40 experienced quads with Claremont claiming 4 out of the top 6 spots, with each crew being in the top 6 of their category; and finally, our novice eight got 2nd in their category, and 6th overall out of 19 boats.

NEW – Jr. Girls Volleyball

Congratulations to the Jr. Girls Volleyball RED team who competed last weekend at the Camosun Chargers Invitational Tournament.
