MONDAY Oct. 31 – Halloween costume at lunch time!
If you missed picking up your student photo proofs and I.D cards yesterday, they are now available in the office. Online order information is inside each photo package, and orders are due on October 24 if you want to receive your photos in the first batch that arrives at the school.
Photo Retakes – Oct.27
If you missed getting your school photo taken at the start of September, Photo Retake Day is THIS THURSDAY morning, Oct 27 in the student lounge. Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken). If you want to replace your September photo, students must return their full photo package + Student ID card to the photographer on Photo Retake Day.
ScreamFest – Oct. 25,26,27
Claremont’s 13th Annual "SCREAMFEST” is THIS WEEK!! Oct. 25, 26, & 27 from 5:30 to 9:00 each night. Tickets are on sale at the Accounting office (cash or debit only for pre-event tickets). Tickets are $10 per person or $30 for families of 4+. Ticket includes event entry, a chance to win contests, draws & door prizes, plus 5 coupons for access to the famous Haunted Walk or for use at the midway games or food at the BBQ and concession.
For planning your visit to the Haunted Walk:
6:00-7:30 is ‘SPOOKY’ for the younger visitors.
8:00-9:00 is ‘SCARY’ for the braver visitors.
Literacy & Numeracy
The next Literacy & Numeracy Assessments take place on November 4th. A list has been posted by the front entrance of the school of students who need to sign up for the Numeracy 10 Assessment. If your name is on that list, please see Mrs. Watson to sign up.
The Zero Cafè is officially open in the IGS Room (264) before school (8:30-8:55) and at lunch every day of the week. Your favourite drinks are here: ice coffees, Caramel Lattes, Cappuccinos, Americanos, etc, etc, etc. We now have TAP for easy payments with debit and credit cards. Please pop down and check us out!
Gender Generation Retreat – Oct.28-30
Gender Generations has a retreat from October 28-30th. Their goal for this retreat is to focus on creating a mural. While the focus will be on building the skills to design and create a mural, there will also be other sessions for folks to attend that span a broader range of topics as well as provide a safe space to connect and converse with other Trans, Non-Binary, Two Spirit, and Gender Diverse folks!

Students: Check your School Email
Reminder for all students to check their School District email. Information and reminders are sent to your school email on a regular basis regarding course changes, registration, events, and other topics.
The Breakfast Club is running on TUESDAY and THURSDAY mornings (before block 1) at the Spartan Store. All students are welcome to come by for a bagel (with choice of spreads) and a juice box. Items are $.25 each.
After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.
Sr Boys Basketball
Anyone interested in playing Senior Boys Basketball this year, there is an important meeting TOMORROW (TUESDAY) at lunch in the small gym. Please see Mr. Dunlop if you cannot make it.
Claremont Swim Team
The Claremont Swim Team competed at the Island Championships on Saturday in Nanaimo. 14 swimmers qualified for Provincials in individual events, as did almost all of our relays. Congratulations to all swimmers! Go Spartans!
Math Club meets TODAY at lunch in room 130. We will prep for this Thursday's COMC.
Trivia Club has moved to THURSDAYS at lunch time in room 323 from now on.

Dual Credit Course: Early Learning & Care Program
Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of children? Perhaps considering a career as an Early Childhood Educator? Camosun has an Early Learning and Care Program starting in February. We are looking for cashiers and floor staff for all departments (Automotive, Housewares, Hardware and Sports/Seasonal). Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
