¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student Photo Proof Packages and ID Cards

There are still many student photo packages and ID cards that have not been picked up.  They will be available for pickup TOMORROW (TUESDAY Oct 24) at lunch in the Learning Commons.

 

Photo Retake Day

Photo retakes are THIS THURSDAY morning, October 26, in the Learning Commons, for all students who missed the first photo day or those who want a retake.  All students in all grades need a photo taken for school ID purposes (grads too).  If you didn’t like your first photo and are getting a retake, please bring your original package and ID card to hand in to the photographer.

 

ScreamFest:  Oct 24, 25, 26

Claremont’s 14th Annual "SCREAMFEST” is THIS WEEK!!   Oct. 24, 25, & 26 from 6:00 to 9:00 each night.  Doors open at 5:30. Pre-event tickets are on sale at the Accounts office; tickets are also for sale at the door. $10 per personEntry Ticket includes 5 coupons to go towards midway games, Haunted Walk and concession. Extra coupons are available for purchase at the event. Great prizes to be won!

For planning your visit to the Haunted Walk:

6:00-7:00 is ‘SPOOKY’ for the younger visitors.

7:30-9:00 is ‘SCARY’ for the braver visitors.

 

Cadets Needed for Claremont’s Remembrance Day Ceremony

A reminder to all Cadets! We're asking any/all Claremont students, who are involved in Cadets, for their assistance with our upcoming Remembrance Day Ceremony.  Be sure to sign up in the main office and then attend a planning meeting THIS THURSDAY October 26th  at lunch in the Choir Room.

Literacy and Numeracy Assessments – Nov. 1 & 2

Literacy and Numeracy Assessments are a requirement of BC’s grad program.  The next assessments will run on November 1st and 2nd.  Grade 12 students who are currently in English 12 will be writing in class, and grade 10 students in Math 10 (with the exception of Workplace Math) will also be writing in class. These students do NOT have to sign up.

If you are in grade 11 and are missing either Numeracy 10 or Literacy 10, please see Mrs. Watson in room 217 to sign up. There is also a list posted out front of the main office; if your name is on there, please see Mrs. Watson in room 217 to sign up.

 

REVISED CLASS SCHEDULES: November 1 & 2

To properly schedule the Literacy & Numeracy assessments, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per day

WEDNESDAY NOV.1

Block 1: 9:00 – 11:45

(Lit/Num Assessments: 9:00 – 12:00)

Block 3: 12:30 – 3:12

(Lit/Num Assessments: 12:30 – 3:30)

 

THURSDAY NOV.2

Block 2: 9:00 – 11:45

(Lit/Num Assessments: 9:00 – 12:00)

Block 4: 12:30 – 3:12

(Lit/Num Assessments: 12:30 – 3:30)

 

After School Homework Club

Reminder: for all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

Cross-Country

Huge congratulations to Claremont's X-Country team for qualifying 16 athletes for the Provincial Championships!  Our Senior Girls and Junior Boys are both Island Champions!  Special shout-out to:

- the Junior Girls who placed 3rd on the island,

- Mady Eames for finishing 2nd overall in the Senior Girls race, and

- Lucas Pearson who finished 3rd overall in the Junior Boys race.  Go Spartans!

 

Jr Girls Volleyball

Good luck to all three of our Jr Girls VBall teams as they compete in some of their final league games of their respective seasons TODAY.  A special shout out to our Jr Girls RED team for currently sitting at 24-0 in league play!

 

Jr Boys Soccer

Good luck to our Junior Boys Soccer team as they take on Lambrick TODAY at 2:45pm in the 1/4 final of their lower island playoffs at the Lochside turf!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
