Food Drive May 6-10
FILL BUCK'S TRUCK Food Drive is happening all THIS WEEK: May 6-10 in Block 1 classes. Please donate to the Mustard Seed; bring canned food and personal hygiene products in your Block 1 class. Cash is also accepted. The winning class with the most donations gets a Breakfast party!

Our next school theme day is THIS FRIDAY May 10: Rainbow Day!! Wear as much colour as your can!
NEW – cc350 - May 24
The Claremont cc350 is on the horizon and rider sign-ups are now open. This year the CC350 will raise funds for the BC Sierra club and their incredible work with eco conservation. The event is on May 24th and will be a full day of fun and cycling for change. Grab a few friends and head to the IGS room at lunch for more information and to sign up!

Blood Donor Clinic – May 13
Claremont, are you ready to roll up your sleeves?? Reminder that Claremont will be hosting a blood drive on MONDAY May 13 in the small gym, 10:00-4:45. It is open to eligible students aged 17 years or older, staff, and the public. The sign-up for appointment times is all done through Canadian Blood Services - on the app, on the website or by phone. Did you know we had a "Guess the Book” contest?" Well, we did!! And the winner was...Abby McCOLL!! The next contest is up, so come on in and enter "Guess The Title." While you are in the LC, colour a bookmark for the kids at Lochside and Cordova Bay! They LOVE getting them from you.
New School Bus Registration Information

After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome. This is open to all students in all grades.

Claremont Musical Theatre Presents: “Anything Goes”… May 23 - June 1
Performance dates are May 23-25 and May 29 – June 1 at 7 pm.

NEW - Tennis
The Claremont Tennis Team finished 2nd in the Vancouver Island Championship. It was an exciting hard fought 7-4 loss in the final against Oak-Bay. Congratulations on a successful season to all of the Spartan tennis players.
NEW – Rowing
This past Saturday, our Senior Boys Coxed Quad (Callum DUTCHAK, Yechan KIM, Kiefer WENSAUER, Henry LINDIG, and Quinn McCOY) competed in the Windermere Cup Opening Day Regatta. They had a very fun experience and ended up getting a very solid second in their event. Also, shout out to Kate Watson who was racing with VCRC and won the Junior Women's Eight event!

Cordova Bay United Church (around the corner from Claremont) is looking for a motivated, hardworking, flexible young person, who can work independently, as a Programs Assistant under the federal government’s Canada Summer Jobs program. The position involves office administration, working with children and youth, utilizing electronic communication techniques, as well as special projects.

Health X-Ploration Day in May
If you are considering a career in the Health Care Industry, sign up for a field trip to Camosun College, for a Health 'X-ploration' Day! Students will explore dual credit pathways in various health programs including practical nursing, health care assistant, medical radiography and certified medical lab assistant. Event dates are either May 15 OR May 28. Date/times will be determined, based on interest and attendance numbers. See Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre to sign up!
Saanich Police Youth Leadership Certificate! July/August
The District of Saanich’s Youth Division is pleased to announce the Saanich Police Youth Leadership Certificate. In this hands-on program, mentors help students gain leadership skills to put towards future employment or post-secondary education. The program is perfect for youth who are interested in future work in a community setting, human services role, or as a first responder with Police, Fire, Ambulance, or the Coast Guard.

Science Rendezvous STEM Festival – May 11
Science Rendezvous is one of Canada’s largest, FREE, one-day STEM festivals. This event is a great opportunity for students and families of all ages to engage in science in a fun and interactive way
Science Rendezvous is hosted by UVic, Camosun College, and Ocean Networks Canada, and offers students K-12, educators, and science enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM learning by participating in 35+ activities side-by-side with real, world-renowned scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and computer and software experts who live right here in Victoria.
Walk through a state-of-the-art greenhouse, peer at the stars using the largest telescope on any Canadian university campus, demo the latest tech for renewable energy, investigate a human skeleton to uncover who they once were, experiment with lasers, explore the ocean…there’s science galore at Science Rendezvous!

Learning Through Loss – Youth Event May 26
Learning Through Loss is hosting a free community event for students, Eat Play Influence, on Sunday May 26th - 12:00-3:30.
Location: Fort Tectoria - 777 Fort St.
This event is for students interested in learning more about how their positive influence can help youth in the Grief and Loss community and discover the healing powers of youth advocacy. Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
