NEW - Lost and Found

A set of air pods & case were left in Mr. Beeston’s classroom on Friday. Please come to the office to claim them.

 

Semester 2 Timetables 

All students will have their updated Semester 2 timetables posted to their Brightspace accounts in the early afternoon THIS FRIDAY Jan 16th. 

 

Students on Waitlists For Semester 2 Courses

If students know/believe they are on a waitlist for a particular course for semester 2, they need to check in with a Counsellor, Integrated Support Teacher or Admin BEFORE THIS FRIDAY Jan.16 (as this will give us time to sort out if a change can be made or not).

 

NEW – Sprit Theme Day – Jan.16

Our next school-wide theme day is THIS FRIDAY. It's JERSEY DAY!  Wear your favourite team jersey or Spartan Wear to show some school spirit.

 

NEW – Copernican Days January 21 & 22

REVISED CLASS SCHEDULE

Provincial Numeracy and Literacy Assessments will be taking place for many students NEXT WEDNESDAY January 21 and THURSDAY January 22.  To properly schedule these assessments, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per dayPlease note the revised Class Schedule:

 

WEDNESDAY JAN.21

Block 1: 9:00 – 11:45 (all morning)

(Lit/Num Assessments: 9:00 – 12:00)

Block 3: 12:30 – 3:10 (all afternoon)

(Lit/Num Assessments: 12:30 – 3:30)

 

THURSDAY JAN. 22

Block 2: 9:00 – 11:45 (all morning)

(Lit/Num Assessments: 9:00 – 12:00)

Block 4: 12:30 – 3:10 (all afternoon)

(Lit/Num Assessments: 12:30 – 3:30)

 

Literacy & Numeracy Assessments

This round of mandatory provincial-based assessments will involve all Socials 10 classes writing Literacy 10. Any students who are not scheduled to write (especially Gr 11 and 12) but would like to sign-up need to do so through Mrs. Watson in room 222.

If you are writing a literacy or numeracy assessment, please show up 10 minutes before the start of the assessment to get signed in.

Claremont Zine Club

Reminder that the Claremont Zine Club is launching and will run on TUESDAYS at lunch in room 310. Come by TOMORROW to learn new ways to write, publish, and use art to creatively share your story. A zine is like a personal magazine about whatever you want to share. Zines are also great for tabletop RPG games like DND. There will also be extra time on FRIDAYS after school to work on your projects or just hang out. Bring your imagination and see you there!

 

Reminder – Homework Club

Homework Club is up and running! Please drop in MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY every week, 3:15-4:15, in Room 235. Support is also available before school on TUESDAY mornings from 8:00-8:50.

For all International Students: please come to our pizza lunch THIS WEDNESDAY in the Learning Commons. This is the last group lunch for Semester I and a chance to say goodbye to those who are leaving Claremont.

REMINDER – “SEWcial” Thrift Event – TODAY

A group of 4 students from IGS Social Justice 11 are hosting a ‘Sewcial’ Justice Thrift Event for Claremont students, TODAY at lunch and after school in the student lounge. After the Thrift Event, all proceeds and remaining clothing will be donated to Our Place Society to give to the less fortunate in our community. Come by ready to shop, have fun, and support our fellow Victorians!

NEW – Bake Sale – Jan. 12 & 13

Claremont's Social Justice 12 class is organizing a bake sale TODAY & TUESDAY during the lunch break in the student lounge, as part of a class project. All proceeds from the bake sale will go toward supporting Claremont families in need.

NEW – PAC Meeting – Jan.20

Our first official Claremont CPAC meeting of 2026 is NEXT TUESDAY Jan 20th @ 6:00pm (time is altered from our regular start due to the Night of Dance Performances starting at 7:00pm).  The meeting will occur both in person in our Learning Commons as well as virtually through Microsoft TEAMs using the following LINK.

 

Digital Wellbeing Presentation – Jan.28

COPACS is putting on a virtual event (MS Teams) focused on Digital Wellbeing and Learning with Shannon Husk. Information on the forthcoming Parent Engagement Evening is available at: https://saanichschools.ca/node/1442

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
