NEW - Skills Canada BC Competition – Highlights Video

A number of Claremont students took part in the recent Skills Canada BC Provincials, demonstrating their skills in many areas in trades and technology.  HERE is a 2-minute YouTube video of some highlights.

 

TEAC105 Dual Credit Program - Explorations in Technology

For upcoming grade 11s and 12s:  there is still time to sign up for TEAC105 - Explorations in Technology! This course explores four technologies through inquiry, problem-solving, and project-based learning: Civil Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. This is a great Dual Credit opportunity.  See Mr. Bussoli as soon as possible, in room 217, or email him at rbussoli@saanichschools.ca

 

Trades Exploration Program

This is the last call for involvement in our awesome Trades Exploration Program next year!  If you're interested in TEX (hands-on experience in welding, carpentry, plumbing and electrical), see Mr. Bussoli in room 217, as soon as possible, to set up an interview.

 

School Bus Registration For 2023-2024

Online school bus registration for next school year is open.  To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website or HERE.

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

Musical Theatre “The SpongeBob Musical”:  May 25 – June 3

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea??  The Claremont Musical Theatre program is presenting the fun and family-friendly, “The SpongeBob Musical.”  Shows run May 25-27 and May 31-June 3, 7pm nightly, plus Saturday matinees at 1pm.  Tickets are for sale ONLINE, with limited availability at the door for cash sales only. All tickets are $15 plus service charge.

NEW – Track & Field

For all track & field athletes competing in the Lower Islands tomorrow: you must come to a quick meeting TODAY at the start of lunch in room 321.

 

NEW - Rugby – City Championships TODAY

Our Boys Rugby team takes on Oak Bay in the City Championships TODAY after school. Game starts at 4:45 at Wallace Field at UVic. This will be some amazing rugby!  Come by to watch if you can. Go Spartans!!

Grad Fundraiser:  Ongoing Bottle Drive

An easy way to support the 2023 Grad Class is by donating empty bottles and beverage containers throughout the school year until June at the Bottle Depot location at Glanford/Quadra.  Account name is “Claremont Grad 2023.” Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023.

Cordova Bay United Church is hiring a Programs Assistant for the summer. The position involves office administration, working with children and youth, electronic communications, and special projects.  Job runs: June 5 - August 31. $18/hour, 30 hours per week. Application deadline: May 22

Volunteer Opportunities

Operation Trackshoes, June 9-11 – is looking for Volunteer Counsellors.

Science Venture is looking for volunteer Jr Camp Counsellors (STEM camps).

 

30 Hours of Work Experience/Volunteering

30 Hours of Work Experience OR Volunteering are required for Graduation. Hours can be counted from any grade. See Mrs. Watson in room 222 to find out how to confirm your 30 hours. If you're not working, there are lots of ideas for looking into Volunteerism.  You can discuss ideas with Mrs. Watson and she can point out a list of possibility volunteer opportunities.

Reminder that the next CPAC meeting is TONIGHT @ 7pm (in-person in the Learning Commons/online via MS Teams).

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
