Food Drive

Tomorrow is the last day of the FILL BUCK'S TRUCK Annual Food Drive for the Mustard Seed. Please donate healthy non-perishables, hygiene products or cash in your Block 1 classes. The class with the most donations will win a breakfast party!

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home pageunder the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

 

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

Krispy Kreme

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Krispy Kreme grad fundraiser on Saturday! Thanks to the volunteer support of a few of the grads we were able to sell all 250 dozen boxes of donuts!
 

Silent Auction
Our next grad fundraiser is our online Silent Auction running May 7-15. Stay tuned early next week for the link and then share with all your family and friends! This is the biggest grad fundraiser of the year so please bid on the fabulous items we have received and spread the word! We are still looking for donations so if you know of a business who can donate a product or service - or provide a cash donation - we would very much appreciate the support!

Summer Job Opportunity:

Cordova Bay United Church is looking for a motivated, hardworking person, who can work independently.

Under the federal government’s Canada Summer Jobs Program, this position involves office administration, working with children and youth, utilizing electronic communication techniques, as well as special projects.

Duration of Job: June 16-August 29, 2025.

$20/hour for 30 hours work per week.

Volunteer Opportunity at 2025 Victoria MS Walk!

MS Walk is a one-day, fundraising event for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Every year, community members come together to build awareness for MS and raise funds to support ground-breaking research and programming. Student volunteers build a strong network, gain valuable experience and skills, and give back to the community! Roles include: Route & Checkpoint Set Up, Route Marshal, Event Wrap Up Crew, Participant Check-in, Kids’ Zone, Start/Finish Line Cheer Squad.

Date/Location: Sunday, May 25th, at Cadboro-Gyro Park.

Timing: This event runs from the morning, to the late-afternoon....

 

Island Ignite - Summer Weekend Firefighting Camp for Females entering Grades 11 & 12

Date: July 11-13, 2025

This great experience involves a weekend for female youth to be engaged, encouraged, and empowered through firefighting!

Students interested in the Trades

Sign up for the CiCan World of Choices Summit! This is an all-day field trip on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Students can explore and participate in four career pathway areas:  Electrical, Carpentry, Pipe Trades and Computer Science or Sheet Metal, Electronics, Automotive and Fine Furniture. Students will be provided with a "brown bag" lunch.

Permission forms are due Wednesday, May 21.

 

Grade 9 and 10 Students: Hands-on Health Day - Tuesday May 20

Hands on Health Day provides an opportunity for students to explore pathways in various health programs, including practical nursing, health care assistant, medical radiography & certified medical lab assistant.

Health-X Day provides an opportunity for all students to explore Dual Credit pathways in various health programs, including practical nursing, health care assistant, medical radiography & certified medical lab assistant.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
