Dress Like a Teacher Day is THIS FRIDAY! Send your photos to Ms Giordano or the Claremont Instagram for an Elements competition. Have fun with this one and get creative!

 

Spartan Wear

Spartan Wear is on sale now!!  If you would like to buy a Claremont Spartan hoodie,     t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, sweat pants, or lanyard, please pick up an order form at the Accounting office.  Orders and payments are due to Ms. Waller in the Accounting office by TUESDAY, March 12th.  All sales are pre-order only, and clothing will arrive at school after Spring Break.

 

PEP 11 Initiative – Awareness Day for Breast Cancer – March 6

A few PEP 11 students are planning a school-wide Breast Cancer Awareness Day TOMORROW WEDNESDAY March 6th. Anyone who wears pink on March 6 can go to the lounge at lunch and receive candy and be entered into a draw for a chance to win a gift card!

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

Jr Boys ‘B’ Development Team Basketball

All Jr Boys ‘B’ Development Team Basketball players: please attend an important meeting THIS FRIDAY March 8th at the start of lunch in the big gym.  Your team photo will be taken during this meeting. Please bring any outstanding uniforms

 

Sr Girls Basketball

Congratulations to the Sr Girls Basketball team for a hard-fought season; they placed 1st in Cities, placed second on the Island (with a close final game), and placed above their original ranking in Provincials!! Well done girls!

 

Rowing

This past weekend the CSI Rowers competed at our first Spring Season regatta. This saw about 400 athletes from 22 clubs representing teams from across the Northwest (even Washington State) competing at Elk Lake to see where they stand as the competitive season begins. Our Spartans had some fantastic results, with many podium finishes. We rowed with determination through wind, rain, hail, and sunshine over two long days. What a weekend! Go Spartans!

 

Girls Soccer

Reminder to all girls soccer players: team tryouts are TODAY after school. See Ms Yager with any questions.

 

¬ CLUBS

Robotics Club

Claremont's 1022 Robotics teams competed at the Island Championships this weekend at Brentwood College.  The teams took home two awards including the top Skills score on Vancouver Island, which is currently a top 300 score in the world out of 20,000 teams.  Congratulations to all the teams for a successful season!

Application Deadline for Spring Break

Reminder for all International Program students: if you are traveling during Spring Break (March 16-April 2) you MUST have your travel applications in to the SISP office before the following deadlines:

NEW - Magic Wand

Hey Grads! The Magic Wand is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for any students. This is a great opportunity to borrow, rather than buy, a complete special outfit for graduation. The only cost to the student is a small fee which covers the cost of cleaning.  Please contact Elizabeth Suresus to view her selection of grad dresses, suits, tuxedos, shoes, and accessories.

Grad 2024 Fundraiser – Call for Online Auction Items

From April 11-26, the grads of 2024 are holding an online silent auction to support the Class of 2024's dinner & dance at the end of June. All proceeds from this auction will go to supporting the costs of this celebration.  We appreciate any donation: gift card, product/service, or a financial donation. Volunteer Opportunity

Remax is holding their 25th annual Easter Egg Hunt supporting BC Children's Hospital!  Volunteers are needed for hiding the eggs, helping the kids find them, crafts, face painting, cupcake decorating, and set-up/take-down.

Location: Elk/Beaver Lake Park (South Shelter, Filter bed location)

Saturday, March 30th - Volunteers are to be at the park at 8:30am - runs until the early afternoon... rain or shine!  See Mrs. Watson in the Career Centre (Room 217) or email her at cwatson@saanichschools.ca for more info and to sign up.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
