¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

AP Biology Meeting: June 8

For all students interested in or planning to take AP Biology next year, there will be a brief but important meeting TOMORROW (THURSDAY) June 8, at lunch in Ms. McAvoy's Room (200).

 

Dual Credit Math 100: Mandatory Meeting June 8    

Did you sign up for Math 100 for next school year?  There is a Dual Credit mandatory meeting for ALL Math 100 students TOMORROW (THURSDAY), June 8, at lunch in room 217.  Attendance will be taken and the next step of the registration process will be discussed.  YOU, yes YOU, need to be there.  Please see Mr. Bussoli for any help. 

 

TEAC105 Dual Credit Program - Explorations in Technology

For upcoming grade 11s and 12s:  there is still time to sign up for TEAC105 - Explorations in Technology! This course explores four technologies through inquiry, problem-solving, and project-based learning: Civil Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. This is a great Dual Credit opportunity.  See Mr. Bussoli as soon as possible, in room 217, or email him at rbussoli@saanichschools.ca

 

School Bus Registration For 2023-2024

Online school bus registration for next school year is open.  To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website or HERE.

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

NEW - Spring Music Concert

The Claremont music program will be presenting their Spring Music Concert TOMORROW NIGHT (THURSDAY) starting at 7pm in the Ridge Theatre. Many talents will be showcased from our Jazz Band, Concert Band, Choir and various small groups.  Please come support our fabulous music students.  Admission is by donation.

YCI

Mental health awareness kits are back this year!  YCI (Youth for Change & Inclusion) has put together awareness kits for Mental Health Awareness Month. They will be handed out for free TODAY at lunch in the student lounge.

¬ GRAD 2023

Sign-up for Grad Banquet Tables – June 7 & 8

Grads, it is time to think about who you want to sit with at your grad banquet.  Seating is assigned for the dinner only; afterwards, everyone can move around freely and mingle.  Sign-up Forms are available in the office NOW. Please come by to pick one up.  Sign-up will be TODAY & TOMORROW at lunch in room 200.

Here are the details…..

1. Pick 1 friend to represent your group.

2. Tables can seat up to 10 guests. Your group can be from 1–10 people.  You don’t need 10 guests to submit a group.  (sign-up forms are in the office)

3. Names can only be on one list, so confirm the Grad (and Guest) want to be in your group.

4. Fill in a Sign-up Form of who is sitting at your table (No List = No Sign-up.)

     a. First and Last Name of Grad

     b. First and Last Name of the Guest.

5. WEDNESDAY June 7 & THURSDAY June 8 at lunchtime: one member of your group brings the list to Room 200 (in the Science wing).

6. If you don’t sign up by the end of lunch on Thursday June 8th, tables will be assigned for you.

 

Grad Yearbook BBQ – June 19

The Grad Yearbook BBQ is on MONDAY June 19, 2:00-4:30pm and will feature multiple food trucks, games, a gift for all Grads, and a yearbook (for all those who purchased one).  Although this event is FREE for all Grads, they still need to reserve/confirm tickets for this event with Mrs. Waller in our accounting office. Grads need to do this no later than TUESDAY June 13th!

 

Volunteers Needed for Grad Events

We are needing volunteers for the following 3 Grad 2023 Events:

1. Grad BBQ:  MONDAY, June 19th @ Claremont.

2. Grad Decorations and set up TUESDAY, June 27  @ Crystal Gardens.

3. Grad Take Down...everyone's favorite--WEDNESDAY, June 28th @ Crystal Gardens.

Grad Fundraiser:  Ongoing Bottle Drive

An easy way to support the 2023 Grad Class is by donating empty bottles and beverage containers throughout the school year until June at the Bottle Depot location at Glanford/Quadra.  Account name is “Claremont Grad 2023.” Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023.

Outward Bound Summer Expedition

Outward Bound is providing an exciting opportunity for Victoria-based youth to be part of a fully funded summer expedition!  Students gain valuable social-emotional skills through challenging and experiential outdoor adventures that build self-esteem, social-emotional skills, an understanding of their resilience, and a deep connection to nature.  See Mrs. Watson in room 222 or email her at cwatson@saanichschools.ca for more info.

NEW - iCan Bike is looking for volunteers for their summer camps July 10-14 (morning or afternoon shifts are available).  Gain valuable experience working alongside youth with special needs in a fun, active environment. Camps are at Panorama Recreation Centre.

Cordova Bay Elementary PAC is looking for volunteers for a year-end bbq and fun fair on FRIDAY June 23, 4:00-7:00. Information & sign-up HERE

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is looking for volunteers for its 15th Annual Kidney Walk BC & Yukon, downtown at Clover Point, on June 4. Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
