NEW - Timetables for 2024/25

Student preliminary timetables for next year will be posted TOMORROW (TUESDAY) June 18 at 5pm in the Student Portal. Students can access their timetables: (reporting.saanichschools.ca) using their SD63 user name and password.

 

NEW – Learning Commons Contest

Our last "Guess the Book Title" contest winner is: Sage STOBBE.  Please come to the Learning Commons to claim your prize. Thank you to everyone who participated - we'll have more contests in the Fall!

 

Theme Day: Beach Day - June 18

TOMORROW (TUESDAY) is the last Claremont theme day for the year: BEACH DAY!  Get out your Hawaiian shirts, bucket hats, sunglasses and more!

 

Europe Trip Summer 2025

Do you want to come go to Europe next summer? There is a Claremont trip going to Italy, Monaco, France, and Spain! Come to the next information meeting TOMORROW (TUESDAY) June 18 at lunch in Ms. Wells' room 312.

 

Grade 11s – Class of 2025 Grad Colour

To our current grade 11 students: please come to the first 2025 Grad Exec Meeting TOMORROW (TUESDAY) June 18 at lunch in room 200 to discuss your grad colour.

 

Lost & Found Table

Are you missing your hoodie, jacket, backpack, shoes, water bottle, or something else??  Lost & found items are on tables in the horseshoe hallway near the front office, until noon on FRIDAY June 21. Remaining items will be removed after lunch on FRIDAY June 21 and donated to charity.

 

Yearbooks

Our Grads will receive their yearbooks TODAY at the Grad BBQ.  For all other students, yearbooks will be handed out this week TUESDAY - FRIDAY at lunch and after school in the Student Lounge.

 

NEW - Locker Clean Out

TOMORROW (TUESDAY) June 18 @ 3pm will be set aside for locker clean-out.  Please bring a bag to empty your things into. Students who are returning to our school in 2024/25 should keep their lock for next year, while those students who no longer need their locks are encouraged to donate them to the accounting office so they can be reused next year. 

 

NEW - Book Return

Please return all textbooks/resources to the Learning Commons ASAP after your assessments are completed.

 

NEW - Fee Payments

Please double check that all school fees for the year have been paid (with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office).

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome. This is open to all students in all grades.

 

Zero Café Is Selling Ice Cream! 

Along with hot drinks and baked treats, the Zero Café is now selling ice cream cones at lunch time too!  Cones are $3.

NEW - Grad BBQ – Pick up Your Tickets

For all grads, please pick up your BBQ tickets anytime TODAY before the BBQ at the Accounting office. This is for ALL grads, whether or not you registered to attend. Staff too, please pick up your tickets.    

 

Extra Grad Ceremony Tickets

All of the extra tickets for the grad ceremony are sold out.  For anyone who did not get a ticket for the ceremony at UVic, they can still watch the ceremony online (the link will be put onto our school website) or in the UVic Farquhar Auditorium foyer on large TV monitors (there is limited seating, but the space is large).

We also ask that if anyone cannot use their purchased ticket on Grad day, to please return it to the Ticket Centre, so that someone else can use the seat.

 

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION

June is National Indigenous History Month

June is National Indigenous History Month, and there will be lots of events popping up which gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate Indigenous culture!

THIS FRIDAY June 21st, Royal Roads University is hosting their annual National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration from 10am to 3pm. The day will open with a performance from Lekwungen singers and dancers, followed by a welcome ceremony and traditional canoe landing protocol. There will be vendors and food trucks open all day, and more performances from drumming, singing, and dance groups will happen in the afternoon! There will also be canoe challenges/races and opportunities to join on plant walks with Quw'utsun (Cowichan) elder Kenneth Elliot.  More info at this LINK.

NEW - Volunteer Opportunity

Prospect Lake Soccer Club is looking for volunteers for their summer camp at Layritz Park (Tuesday/Friday full days, Wednesday/Thursday half days), from July 2nd-5th!  Although it is a soccer camp, volunteers do not need to be soccer experts....   See Mrs. Watson in the Career Centre, or email her for more info: cwatson@saanichschools.ca

 

Volunteer Opportunity

Earn volunteer hours at Cordova Bay Day, a great community event!  The event will be on SATURDAY, June 22, but student volunteers are needed for TWO days: FRIDAY, June 21 to help with event set-up AND SATURDAY, June 22 to help with kid's activities on the day of the event, and/or take-down of the event.  You can choose one or two days of volunteering.  See Mrs. Watson in the Career Centre, or email her for more info.

 

Youth Leaders in Training

The City of Victoria’s ‘Youth Leadership in Training’ Program (YLIT) has a focus on recreational leadership skills, as well as public speaking, teamwork, communication, and many other important life skills. The training consists of 3 parts:

1. One week of leadership training at Crystal Pool.

2. Four weeks of placements in City of Victoria summer camps.

3. Team building out-trips.

Applicants must be 14-17 years old with an interest in recreation and/or child & youth care. They are selected in an interview process that consists of initiative tasks, questions, and scenarios. At the end of the program, YLITs receive a $600 honorarium for the completion of the program as well as a certificate and a reference letter.

Paramedic First Responder Camp

Alert First Aid is offering Paramedic (First Responder) Camp this summer!  This immersive and empowering experience is designed exclusively for individuals between the ages of 13-17. Over the course of two action-packed weeks, participants will experience learning and personal growth in the field of emergency medical care and will receive a Standard First Aid and CPR C Certificate, First Responder Certificate, Deluxe First Aid Kit, T-Shirt, and tons of practice time. The program costs $950.00 with two camp dates. Spots are limited.

Option A: July 8-12 & July 15-19

Option B: Aug 12-16 & Aug 19-23

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
