Course Drop Date: June 2

The final date to drop a semester 2 course, and not have it show up on your transcript, is TOMORROW (FRIDAY) June 2.  Course drop forms can be picked up in the counselling office, and must be signed by a parent before meeting with a counsellor to make the formal drop.

New in the lost & found: we have an iPhone, a bumble-bee earring and a Swarovski necklace.  Please come to the office to claim them.


TEAC105 Dual Credit Program - Explorations in Technology

For upcoming grade 11s and 12s:  there is still time to sign up for TEAC105 - Explorations in Technology! This course explores four technologies through inquiry, problem-solving, and project-based learning: Civil Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. This is a great Dual Credit opportunity.  See Mr. Bussoli as soon as possible, in room 217, or email him at


School Bus Registration For 2023-2024

Online school bus registration for next school year is open.  To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website or HERE.


After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.



Musical Theatre “The SpongeBob Musical”:  May 25 – June 3

“SpongeBob the Musical” has 4 final shows, TONIGHT thru SATURDAY. This is truly a hilarious, vibrant and fun musical; the cast, crew and orchestra have done a spectacular job of bringing the SpongeBob characters and the underwater world of Bikini Bottom to life!  In-person & livestream tickets are on sale ONLINE (the link is on the Claremont website). Tickets are also on sale for students every day at lunchtime at the Ridge Theatre box officeInfo poster HERE.

NEW - Math Club

The last Math Club meeting of the year will be a pizza lunch THIS TUESDAY June 6th after the Recognition Assembly.  We will hand out certificates and awards from this year's contests.  Please sign up online in the Google Classroom or outside Mr. Paananen's room to let us know if you are coming.



Mental health awareness kits are back this year!  YCI (Youth for Change & Inclusion) has put together awareness kits for Mental Health Awareness Month. They will be handed out for FREE on WEDNESDAY June 7th at lunch in the student lounge.

¬ GRAD 2023

NEW - Tickets for UVic Grad Ceremony

For all grad students: please make sure you have checked your school outlook email for an email from UVic that contains your grad ceremony tickets.  Tickets were emailed last Friday to each grad who requested tickets. Tickets can be printed at home or scanned off a smart device.

EXTRA TICKETS for the ceremony will be going on sale MONDAY June 5th at 9:30am. 

Please call the UVic Ticket Office at 250-721-8480 to book. Extra tickets are $10 each.


Sign-up for Grad Banquet Tables – June 7 & 8

Grads, it is time to think about who you want to sit with at your grad banquet.  Seating is assigned for the dinner only; afterwards, everyone can move around freely and mingle.  Sign-up Forms are available in the office now. Please come by to pick one up.

Here are the details…..

1. Pick 1 friend to represent your group.

2. Tables can seat up to 10 guests. Your group can be from 1–10 people.  You don’t need 10 guests to submit a group.  (sign-up forms are in the office)

3. Names can only be on one list, so confirm the Grad (and Guest) want to be in your group.

4. Fill in a Sign-up Form of who is sitting at your table (No List = No Sign-up.)

     a. First and Last Name of Grad

     b. First and Last Name of the Guest.

5. WEDNESDAY June 7 & THURSDAY June 8 at lunchtime: one member of your group brings the list to Room 200 (in the Science wing).

6. If you don’t sign up by the end of lunch on Thursday June 8th, tables will be assigned for you.


New - Grad Yearbook BBQ – June 19

This event is on MONDAY June 19, 2:00-4:30pm and will feature multiple food trucks, games, a gift for all Grads, and a yearbook (for all those who purchased one).  Although this event is FREE for all Grads, they still need to reserve/confirm tickets for this event with Mrs. Waller in our accounting office. Grads need to do this no later than TUESDAY June 13th!


Volunteers Needed for Grad Events

We are needing volunteers for the following 3 Grad 2023 Events:

1. Grad BBQ:  MONDAY, June 19th @ Claremont.

2. Grad Decorations and set up TUESDAY, June 27  @ Crystal Gardens.

3. Grad Take Down...everyone's favorite--WEDNESDAY, June 28th @ Crystal Gardens.

Grad Fundraiser:  Ongoing Bottle Drive

An easy way to support the 2023 Grad Class is by donating empty bottles and beverage containers throughout the school year until June at the Bottle Depot location at Glanford/Quadra.  Account name is “Claremont Grad 2023.” Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023.



Outward Bound Summer Expedition

Outward Bound is providing an exciting opportunity for Victoria-based youth to be part of a fully funded summer expedition!  Students gain valuable social-emotional skills through challenging and experiential outdoor adventures that build self-esteem, social-emotional skills, an understanding of their resilience, and a deep connection to nature.  See Mrs. Watson in room 222 or email her at for more info.

A senior in our neighbourhood is looking for help with light yard work, 3 hours per week for $20/hour. Tasks would include weeding, edging, leaf-blowing, and other jobs to keep her yard tidy.

The Crystal Pool is hiring for their Youth Leaders in Training program! The focus is on recreational leadership skills as well as public speaking, teamwork, communication and many other important life skills geared towards 14 to 18 year-olds. The program involves 1 week of leadership training at Crystal Pool in July, 4 weeks of placements in a City of Victoria summer camp from July to August, and various team building out-trips. Volunteer Opportunities

Cordova Bay Elementary PAC is looking for volunteers for a year-end bbq and fun fair on FRIDAY June 23, 4:00-7:00. Information & sign-up HERE

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is looking for volunteers for its 15th Annual Kidney Walk BC & Yukon, downtown at Clover Point, on June 4. 30 Hours of Work Experience/Volunteering

30 Hours of Work Experience OR Volunteering are required for Graduation. Hours can be counted from any grade. See Mrs. Watson in room 222 to find out how to confirm your 30 hours. If you're not working, there are lots of ideas for looking into Volunteerism.  You can discuss ideas with Mrs. Watson and she can point out a list of possibility volunteer opportunities.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
