¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Semester 1 Course Drop Date – Jan.6

The last date to drop a class and not have it show up on your transcript is TOMORROW (FRIDAY) January 6.  Students must fill out a drop form and have it signed by a parent and teacher first. (Drop forms are available in the counselling office or Mrs Watson’s office.) THEN students can bring the signed form in person to Mr. Pama or Ms Giese to make the drop happen.

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

 

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is running on TUESDAY and THURSDAY mornings (before block 1) at the Spartan Store.  All students are welcome to come by for a bagel (with choice of spreads) and a juice box. Items are $.25 each.

NEW: American Sign Language Club

A new club is starting up TODAY.  The ASL Club (American Sign Language) will run on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS at lunch upstairs in room 314. Come try a new language that supports inclusivity. Everyone welcome.

 

Key Club - Tree Chipping: Jan. 7 & 8!!

Are you looking for a great option for where to take your tree after the holidays? The Key Club is hosting a tree-chipping fundraiser this weekend:

SATURDAY January 7 (10-4pm)

SUNDAY January 8 (10-2pm).

Tree drop-off is in the Claremont student parking lot, off Claremont Avenue. Suggested minimum donation is $10 per tree.  All proceeds will go to the charities and organizations that the Key Club supports.  Thank you to Cullen Tree Services.

Grad Fundraiser: Bottle Drive – January 8

There will be a Bottle Drive at Claremont School THIS SUNDAY January 8, 9:00-3:00 in the student parking lot.  Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023!

 

Grad Fundraiser:  Ongoing Bottle Drive

An easy way to support the 2023 Grad Class is by donating empty bottles and beverage containers throughout the school year until June at the Bottle Depot location at Glanford/Quadra.  Account name is “Claremont Grad 2023.” Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023.

 

¬ CAREER CENTRE

CUE (Canadian Universities Event – Jan.19

CUE (Canadian Universities Event) will be hosting a virtual event for students on January 19.  The event allows students to visit with university reps from over 50 Canadian post-secondary institutions.  This event is geared towards Grade 11 and 12 students and their supporters.

Each university will have a drop-in style virtual booth where students can choose which universities they wish to visit and can ask questions about programs, admissions, scholarships, housing and more.  THURSDAY Jan.19, 6:00-8:00pm.  Registration at www.cuebc.org

 

Parents as Education & Career Coaches – Jan.11

Come join our virtual “Parents as Education & Career Coaches” (PECC) Workshop to learn how you can help support your student in planning for their future. The information will be especially helpful for families with students in Grades 10-12. Sessions are engaging and informative, and include a Q&A.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
