¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW - Remembrance Day: Lest We Forget

Claremont will be holding four Remembrance Day ceremonies on MONDAY Nov. 10 in the Ridge Theatre: Block 1 for grades 11 & 12, Block 2 for grades 9 & 10.  We honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who continue to serve to preserve our Canadian values and freedoms. Thank you to the men and women of our Canadian military: the members of the army, navy, and air force, medics, equipment technicians, pilots, support staff, and peace keepers. Lest we forget.

Poppies from the Royal Canadian Legion will be available at the office on MONDAY by donation to the Legion Poppy Fund. Poppy funds assist Veterans and their families with many necessary services and supports.

Reminder to the Remembrance Day speakers to meet in the theatre TODAY at lunch time.

 

NEW - Camosun's New Socially Responsible Management Degree Info – Nov.12

Mr. Fast's Business 10 class will be hosting a visit from Troy Dunning, Faculty Lead, of Student Recruitment & Retention from Camosun's School of Business, on WEDNESDAY Nov.12.  Mr. Dunning will be talking about Camosun's new Socially Responsible Management degree and the Dual Credit Program for grade 12’s. The presentation starts around 9:50 am. Any students interested in attending should check in with Mr. Fast beforehand to excuse their absence from Block 1 classes.

 

Photo Packages & Student ID Cards

Reminder that there are still many school photo packages and student ID cards in the office.  Please come by to pick yours up. 

 

Vending Machines

A reminder that the new snack and drink vending machines at Claremont are PROGRAMMABLE for the times that they operate.  They WILL NOT work during class time.  They will only work before school, during breaks, and after school.

NEW – Sr Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the Sr Boys Soccer team, finishing 3rd place in the Islands tournament, under very wet conditions. Well done, boys. Go Spartans!

 

Rugby

Reminder, if you are interested in playing boys rugby this year, there will be a sign-up meeting TODAY at lunch in room 134 (Mr. Belvedere's room). No experience needed – everyone is welcome. Come learn about the season, training, and how to get involved.

Winter Floral Fundraiser

The CSI Lacrosse Academy is hosting a winter fundraiser of holiday florals: poinsettias, wreaths, greenery arrangements, succulent bowls, and even a few festive plushies.  Funds go toward program costs and student travel.  This is the LINK to explore and order your winter florals. ¬ CAREER CENTRE

NEW - Volunteer Opportunity – Website Development

CPAC (the Claremont Parent Advisory Council) would like to recruit 2 student volunteers that are able to work together in developing a new CPAC website using Wix.com. https://www.wix.com/start/blog

CPAC will provide necessary support, including a Saanich School District IT person who can be further consulted. 

This is time sensitive: The goal is to develop and execute the new site by the end of November.

All volunteer hours will be accounted for and CPAC will provide a reference letter.

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
