¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Copernican Days June 9 & 10

Provincial Numeracy and Literacy Assessments will be taking place for many students THIS TUESDAY June 9 and WEDNESDAY June 10.  To properly schedule these assessments, the entire school will follow a Copernican class schedule consisting of two long blocks per dayPlease note the revised Class Schedule:

Bling out your Book!!
Come to the Learning Commons and bedazzle your books!  Every MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY at lunchtime until the end of classes, bring a friend and we’ll supply the rhinestones and tools…YOU bring your book! Or journal! Or planner!  And we’ll have bookmarks to bling out too!  See Mrs. Wadsworth for more info!

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW – Golf

The Spartans Golf team played some amazing golf at the Provincial Golf Championships in Langley and clinched the Bronze medal out of 22 teams.  Their combined 2-day score was 302 (behind 4pete BC champs St George's, and 3pete silver medalists Lord Bing). Our Spartans played with focus, determination, and superb skills. Congratulations to Charlie PEARCEY, Owen BEAULAC, Ryan MATSUBUCHI and our two graduating players, Rohin JHAWER and Braxton LISE.

NEW – Spring Music Concert: June 4

Congratulations to the Claremont Music Department on last night’s very enjoyable Spring Music Concert. This was a fabulous showcase of the musical talents of our students.

 

NEW – Night of Dance: June 8 & 9

Night of Dance is next week, on MONDAY and TUESDAY nights at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at lunch TODAY outside the theatre. Both shows are close to being sold out, so don’t wait!  Payment can be cash or card.

REMINDER – Grad Yearbook Picnic: June 15

Grads, reminder that you must sign up for the Grad Picnic by noon TODAY.

The Grad Picnic is MONDAY June 15th at 2:00 pm.  This is a FREE event for all 2026 Grads!  To help us prepare your ticket pack, and pre-order your preferred sandwich, please register your name using the Google Form link below. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

¬ FUNDRAISING

NEW – Bottle Drive: June 13

A group of IGS 12 students is running a bottle drive NEXT SATURDAY June 13, 9:00-1:00 in the student parking lot.  No sorting required…. simply drop off and drive away. All funds raised will go to support The Wanted Children Foundation, whose mission is to provide care, housing, education, and a future to orphaned and vulnerable children in Nigeria. Thank you for your support.  Your donations will directly help these children.

 

¬ CAREER CENTRE

REMINDER – Work Experience 12

Are you working over the summer (and into the coming school year)? Sign up for Work Experience 12!  In order to log hours over the summer, you need to meet with Mr. Bussoli FIRST.  Hours DO NOT COUNT toward WEx12, unless you have submitted the required paperwork before the summer.  See Mrs. Watson in the Career Centre to book an appointment with Mr. Bussoli, as soon as possible.

 

Volunteer Opportunity: June 12

The ḰELSET PAC Spring Fair is still looking for high school students to volunteer to help run the carnival games at ḰELSET Elementary, on FRIDAY June 12 from 5-8pm. 

Do you remember how much fun your elementary school spring fairs were when you were a kid??  Earn volunteer hours and have fun doing it!.  You know this will be a fun event, and this is their biggest fund-raiser of the year!! Volunteer Opportunity for Student Golfers & Student Golf Enthusiasts! 

Do you play golf or love the game? Student volunteers are needed to help at BC Cancer’s “Lawrence’s Drive for a Cure” golf tournament on July 24th at Cordova Bay Golf Course. 

Volunteer opportunities may include:
• Hole support
• Registration
• Player assistance
• Event setup & coordination
• On-course activities

Volunteer hours will be fully credited and reference letters will be provided

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
