¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW – Toys for Teens

Thank you to all students, families and staff for your support of this year's Toys for Teens donation drive. Between our class collections, office bin collections, Leadership candy bag sales, Cafeteria cookie sales, and online donations, our Grand Total is $6800!!!!  Awesome!!  Our winning Block 1 class this year goes to Ms Chapman’s Pre-Calc 11 class. Congrats!   The gift cards were delivered early this morning at The Zone's "Willows Family Toy Drive" event at Mayfair Mall. Thank you, Claremont, for your generous support and spirit.

 

NEW – Revised Class Schedule: FRIDAY Dec. 19 (Early dismissal)

NEXT FRIDAY (the last Friday before Winter Holidays, Dec 19th), Claremont staff will be sticking with tradition by organizing & cooking a pancake breakfast for all students that are interested in attending and eating!  At any point between 9:00-9:30am, students will be able to pass by the cafeteria or the student lounge to pick up ‘pancakes to go’ and then spread out and eat where they like in the school (we will ensure that proper compost/recycle stations are present in all of our major eating areas).  After that, all classes will be 40min in length, with a 30min lunch and an hour long special presentation in our Big Gym at the end of the day - all students are reminded to wear their jammies/cozys/XMas sweaters/etc!

   9:00 - 9:30am       Pancake Breakfast  (at the Cafeteria or the Student Lounge) 

   9:30 - 10:10am     Block 1

 10:15 - 10:55am     Block 2

 11:00 - 11:30am     Lunch

Grade 9 Immunization Forms

Reminder for grade 9 students to please return your completed immunization consent forms to the office ASAP. Please contact the local Health Unit at 250-544-2400 if you have any questions.

Claremont Drama Presents An Evening of Three Short Plays: Dec.10-13

2 final nights! Come support our grade 9-12 Drama and Stagecraft students as they perform three funny and insightful One-Act plays about high school life. The three shorter plays are titled, “Username,” “Gossip” and “Alienated.” This will be an evening of humour, satire, mystery, insight, relevance, twists, and lots of fun. These plays are appropriate for all ages.  All tickets are $10 and are available at the door.  The last 2 showtimes are TONIGHT and TOMORROW NIGHT (SATURDAY) at 7:30pm in the Ridge Playhouse.

Reminder – Homework Club

Homework Club is up and running! Please drop in MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY every week, 3:15-4:15, in Room 235. Support is also available before school on TUESDAY mornings from 8:00-8:50.

The Grad 2026 parents are running a holiday 50/50 raffle to support our grads. This is a win-win event: a chance to win some cash AND support our grads at the same time! 

Every ticket sold helps us create an unforgettable graduation year for our students: safe grad celebrations and amazing year-end activities. NEW – Bake Sale: Dec.11

3 IGS 11 students are running a bake sale TODAY to fundraise for The Wanted Children Foundation in Nigeria. Money raised will support orphaned children to help make their future better.

Bring your sweet tooth!  Delicious cookies, brownies and muffins will be on sale at the front of the Learning Commons; $2 each or buy 2 and get one free. Thank you for supporting this important cause.

NEW – Tree Chipping – January 3

The Key Club is running a tree chipping fundraiser on SATURDAY January 3 in the student parking lot.  Donations will go towards various community charities they support. This is a great opportunity to dispose of your holiday tree, while supporting others in the community. Suggested amount for tree donation is $10 or more. 

 

NEW – Bottle Drive

The Grad 2025 Parent Group is running a bottle drive on SATURDAY January 3 in the student parking lot. This is a great time to get rid of your holiday empties and support the 2025 grad class at the same time! This will be a drop-off and go….. no sorting  required.

Work Experience students: will you be working a lot over Winter Break? Meet with your WEx teacher to start logging hours or make sure to keep logging hours over the winter break!

Thank you to the Claremont PAC for treating our staff to a delicious holiday luncheon this past Wednesday.  The selection of food was absolutely fabulous, and we all enjoyed the delicious luncheon. We feel very appreciated!!! 

 

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

Student Drivers

Reminder to all students who are parking their vehicles in the student parking lot: you are required to be registered with the school. Permission forms and parking passes ($2 each) are available with Mrs. Waller in the Accounting office; students will be required to show their drivers licence, their insurance papers, and their ICBC Driver’s Abstract.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
