NEW - Robotics
This past weekend, your Claremont Robotics Teams were champions again against teams from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Congratulations to Aidan Cheung, Fred Jennings, Santiago Alvarez-Perez, Ava Lancaster, Madeline Baxter, Isabella Tascon, and Owen Zhang for beating an all Burnaby team in the finals and making the Island proud! Special shout out to grade 9s Kiva Delano and Camryn McKeachie who won the Judges award and qualified for the Island Championships in two weeks. Well done Spartans!
NEW - Wednesday is PINK SHIRT DAY, a day to celebrate kindness & diversity and create environments where all feel safe, valued and respected. Wear a pink shirt to show your support.
Parent Volunteers/Drivers
Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time. The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home page, under the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.
If a Student is Absent or Late
Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

Claremont’s Got Talent
Claremont's Got Talent has returned. Performances will be held in the theatre Feb. 24th-27th at lunch.
NEW – Athletics and Spring Sports
There is an important meeting for students interested in trying out for the badminton team today at lunch in the small gym (tryouts this week are Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15 in the main gym)
There is a meeting on Tuesday at lunch in the small gym for students who want to participate in the ultimate frisbee league.
Girl’s Soccer tryouts are Monday (24th) and Thursday (27th) on the main field after school.

Women in Orthopedics (WORTH) Event for High School Students - Via Zoom!
Female students in Grades 10-12: If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and engineering, specifically in orthopedics, sign up for this great event!
This workshop will provide insights into what it is like working as an orthopedic resident, walking through various orthopedic cases.

Volunteers Needed During Spring Break:
Victoria Artistic Swimming is hosting one of the sport’s biggest Canadian events, right here at Saanich Commonwealth Place! Volunteers are needed March 16-23. A variety of volunteer positions are available – sign up for as many or as few as work for you; Commitment is typically between two and six hours; related experience is not required.
Contest
The WorkSafeBC 2025 Student Safety Video Contest is underway and open until April 1, 2025. The contest website, including full details, rules, and the contest entry form is at www.worksafebc.com/studentvideocontest. This year’s contest theme, Show up, Speak Up for Safety, asks students to create a short video that explores how young workers can go beyond just showing up at work, to speaking up when something feels unsafe.
- There are four $2,500 prizes to be shared by the students and their schools
- Entries are to be submitted by the teacher
- Contest deadline is 5 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor. Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
