School Trip

Computer Contest 

Any student interested in writing the Waterloo Computer Contest in February, please see Mr. Beeston in Rm 236 to sign up. The deadline is February 13th

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home pageunder the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

Claremont’s Got Talent

After a covid time off, Claremont's Got Talent has returned. If you have a special talent you should show off, sign up for Claremont's Got Talent with the QR code posted around the school. Performances will be held in the theatre Feb. 24th-27th at lunch

Anyone interested in Girls Soccer this year please attend an important meeting on Thursday the 13th at Lunch in the Big Gym.

Chess Players meet at lunch in 327 all week.

Bottle Drive

Claremont Lacrosse is having a bottle drive on Saturday, February 15th. Please leave your empties out with the flyer attached by 9:30 on Saturday morning or drop them off at Claremont between 9 am and 12 pm.

South Island Regional Skills Canada Competitions!

Registration is OPEN for this year's South Island Regional Skills Canada Competitions!

Online or face-to-face competitions will be held, covering areas like Electronics, Graphic Design, Internet Website Design, Job Search, Photography, Public Speaking, and more...

Competitions will be held on March 7th, with the deadline for registration on February 21. 

Please see Mr. Bussoli in the Career Centre (Room 217) if you are interested in competing.

 

Royal Canadian Navy Career Fair @ HMCS Malahat!

This event will feature a variety of stations and exhibits, showcasing potential future careers (part-time and full-time) with the Royal Canadian Navy.

Educational Opportunity

Women in Orthopedics (WORTH) Event for High School Students - Via Zoom!

Female students in Grades 10-12: If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and engineering, specifically in orthopedics, sign up for this great event!

This workshop will provide insights into what it is like working as an orthopedic resident, walking through various orthopedic cases.

  • Date/Time:  Saturday, March 1, 10am - 11:30am (Online, via Zoom)

  • Registration Deadline is February 24.

 

Volunteers Needed During Spring Break:

Victoria Artistic Swimming is hosting one of the sport’s biggest Canadian events, right here at Saanich Commonwealth Place! Volunteers are needed March 16-23. A variety of volunteer positions are available – sign up for as many or as few as work for you; Commitment is typically between two and six hours; related experience is not required.  www.victoriasynchro.com/event/national-qualifiers-2025 

 

Contest 

The WorkSafeBC 2025 Student Safety Video Contest is underway and open until April 1, 2025. The contest website, including full details, rules, and the contest entry form is at www.worksafebc.com/studentvideocontest. This year’s contest theme, Show up, Speak Up for Safety, asks students to create a short video that explores how young workers can go beyond just showing up at work, to speaking up when something feels unsafe.

- There are four $2,500 prizes to be shared by the students and their schools

- Entries are to be submitted by the teacher 

- Contest deadline is 5 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
