Toys for Teens: Dec 1-7

TODAY is the final day for our TOYS FOR TEENS DONATION DRIVE. Claremont collects $10 Gift Cards for teens in need in our community. This is in support of The Zone 91.3's annual Toy Drive who give their donations to The Christmas Giving Network, an umbrella of local charities and organizations in Greater Victoria such as CFAX Santa's Anonymous, The Time Colonist Fund, St. Vincent De Paul Society and more. We will be collecting in BLOCK 3. This is a class competition (winners get a pizza party) and a school-wide Elements competition for the badge and bragging rights.

We are asking for $10 Gift Cards that Teens would like for: coffee shops, restaurants, retail locations, music, grocery stores, drug stores, bus passes, pre-paid credit cards, etc. Cash donations are also happily accepted.  Students are encouraged to bring their donations to their Block 3 class (or the front office if they do not have a Block 3 class). Every $10 = 1 point for your class/element. Thank you for your support of this great cause and for sharing the Spartan Spirit. Happy Holidays!

 

Hotdog & Chips: Toys for Teens – Dec.8

You can further support Toys for Teens by buying a hotdog & chips for $2 TOMORROW (THURSDAY) at lunch in the student lounge.  All money will go toward Toys for Teens.

 

AP Biology

For all students registered in AP Biology: there will be an important, mandatory meeting TOMORROW (THURSDAY) at lunchtime in Room 217 (Mr. Bussoli's Room). Don't forget!

 

After School Homework Club

For all students who would like extra help in academic classes, help from Education Assistants is available four days a week (MONDAY-THURSDAY) for one hour after school in room 235. All academic subjects are welcome, but especially if you are struggling in Math & Science. This is open to all students in all grades.

 

Lost & Found

A valuable GOLD & DIAMOND ring was found in the school. Please identify and claim at the office.

 

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is running on TUESDAY and THURSDAY mornings (before block 1) at the Spartan Store.  All students are welcome to come by for a bagel (with choice of spreads) and a juice box. Items are $.25 each. 

 

Student Photo Packages

New student photo packages (retakes and late orders) arrived for 30 students.  If you are waiting for student photos, please pick them up in the office TODAY to get them home before the holidays.

Year-Long Drama Presents: "One Stoplight Town"

The Claremont Year-Long Drama’s presentation of "One Stoplight Town" continues TOMORROW in the Ridge Playhouse.  Shows are Dec. 8,9,10 at 7:30 pm nightly.  This show is full of vibrant characters, lots of humour, and shares a heart-felt take-away message.  All tickets are $10 at the door, cash only.  Come see the talents of our cast and crew, and thank you for supporting Year-Long Drama!

 

Festive Music Concerts – Dec. 8 & 15

The Claremont Music Program has two festive concerts coming up.  For their first concert, our Concert Band, Jazz Band & Choir will join ROMS music students TOMORROW (THURSDAY) Dec.8 @ 6:30pm at Royal Oak Middle School Gym. Come enjoy some seasonal joy and the talents of our music students:

Grad Winter Gala – Dec.7

Grads: please pick up your Winter Gala tickets TODAY at the Accounting office.  You will need the physical ticket to attend the Gala.

 

Grad Fundraiser: Bottle Drive – January 8

There will be a Bottle Drive at Claremont School on SUNDAY January 8.  More details to come. Heads up Grads: your help will be needed to help with delivering flyers in December and on the date of the bottle drive!!

 

Grad Fundraiser:  Ongoing Bottle Drive

An easy way to support the 2023 Grad Class is by donating empty bottles and beverage containers throughout the school year until June at the Bottle Depot location at Glanford/Quadra.  Account name is “Claremont Grad 2023.” Thank you for supporting the grad class of 2023.

¬ NEWS FROM CLAREMONT PAC

From COPACS (our district-wide PAC)

Our district Parent Advisory Committee (called COPACS - Council of Parent Advisory Committees of Saanich) wants to hear from district families about speakers and resources that would be helpful to support you and your child(ren) grow and learn at school.

The COPACS Parent/Guardian Resource Committee has created this SHORT SURVEY for parents and guardians - please share with others and provide your thoughts by January 3rd.  Our school PAC will hear about the results and can potentially coordinate speakers and resources with other schools.

Claremont Staff Appreciation

The Christmas Dessert & Tea Staff Appreciation Day will take place TODAY between 11:30 and 1:30 in the Learning Commons. A big THANK-YOU to everyone who has contributed to this event and our CPAC organizers and parent volunteers for the delicious desserts and treats.

Triple Threat Performers Present the Musical “Into the Woods”

Dec.14, 15, 16, 17

The West Coast Triple Threat Performers will be presenting the musical, "Into the Woods" at the Ridge Playhouse. This story incorporates classic fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Cinderella to teach us lessons about wishing. We follow the Baker and his Wife on their journey to complete the Witch's wish so that they may have a child. This musical is filled with magic, mystery, loss, beauty, and adventure!  It is recommended that audience members are aged 4+.  Some of our very own Claremont students are in this cast!!

5 performances. Show times are Dec. 14, 15, 16, 17 @ 7pm nightly, plus Saturday Dec.17 @ 2pm matinee.  Tickets can be ordered HERE ahead of time, or $20 at the door.  Thank you for supporting community theatre.

 

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
