¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Food Drive

FILL BUCK'S TRUCK Annual Food Drive for the Mustard Seed runs all THIS WEEK from Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2. Please donate healthy non-perishables, hygiene products or cash in your Block 1 classes. The class with the most donations will win a breakfast party! 

Also, wear RED on FRIDAY to celebrate being a Spartan!

 

Parent Volunteers/Drivers

Reminder that all volunteers for School District 63 are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every three years. Sports and trips will start up quickly, so we encourage parents to be proactive and do this NOW, if you might be interested in driving; the process can take a few weeks at rush time.  The LINK to information can be found on the Claremont Secondary home pageunder the Parents tab, Volunteer Information.

 

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca  or by phone by calling our main phone line at 250-658-5221 and selecting Option 1 for Attendance.

NEW - Musical Theatre “MAMMA MIA”:  May 20-25

Claremont is excited and proud to present our 2025 production, “MAMMA MIA The Musical”.  Come enjoy the talents of our cast, crew, and orchestra, in this fun, vibrant, and heart-warming story, and be ready to have the songs of Abba fill your senses. This musical runs from May 20-25; shows will be 7pm nightly, plus 1:00 matinees on Saturday May 24 & Sunday May 25.  Tickets are on sale now!  Tickets will be sold ONLINE.  This show will most likely sell out, so please plan ahead.  All seats $18.

LAST CHANCE - Women in Trades & Technology Day at Camosun – THURS May 1

This is the last chance to sign up for the all-day field trip: Women in Trades & Technology Day. Students will have the opportunity to explore and participate in various career pathway areas:  Electrical, Carpentry, Pipe Trades and Computer Science or Sheet Metal, Electronics, Automotive and Fine Furniture. Students will be provided with a "brown bag" lunch, so no need to bring one. See Mr. BUSSOLI as soon as possible in the Career Centre (room 217) to sign up.

 

LAST CHANCE - Saanich Youth WYLD Leadership Program

Are you interested in spending your summer working with kids? Do you want to be a leader in your community? Apply for the Saanich Youth WYLD Leadership Program! This hands-on mentored placement program is perfect for those interested in working with community, becoming a summer camp leader, teacher, lifeguard, fitness instructor, police officer, first responder and so much more. Applications are open until May 1.

 

Island Ignite - Summer Weekend Firefighting Camp for Females entering Grades 11 & 12

Date: July 11-13, 2025

This great experience involves a weekend for female youth to be engaged, encouraged, and empowered through firefighting!

Sign up for the CiCan World of Choices Summit! This is an all-day field trip on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Students can explore and participate in four career pathway areas:  Electrical, Carpentry, Pipe Trades and Computer Science or Sheet Metal, Electronics, Automotive and Fine Furniture. Students will be provided with a "brown bag" lunch.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
