¬ GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW - Instagram Account

Claremont has an Instagram account: @claremontsd63 .    This is great way to keep in the loop on school-wide information.

 

NEW - Course Change Requests

If students require any changes to their course schedules, they can pick up a course change form at the main office or the counselling office. Deadline to return parent-signed forms to the main office is FRIDAY July 4th.  Please note that many classes are full, and some changes may not be possible.

 

If a Student is Absent or Late

Parents are asked to please email your student’s teacher AND the Attendance Line if your student will be absent or late for class. The Link for the Claremont Attendance Line is always quick to find on the Quick Links on the Claremont website’s home page: claremont_attendance@saanichschools.ca 

 

¬ ATHLETICS

NEW - Athlete Congratulations

Congratulations to CSI Swimmers Chase Saxon and Marlee Hourston for competing in the Canada Summer Games this August!  And Congratulations to Josh Tsai for making the Swimming Canada Long Distance Camp!  Way to go team!

 

Fall Teams

Here is the start-up info for fall teams and tryouts that start very fast.  If you cannot attend one of these early practices, please make sure you communicate with the coach. If there are any questions about any of these teams and you can't locate the coach, please see Mr Reisig (PE office) for help.

 

Volleyball

Jr boys - Wed, Sept 3 after school in main gym, Thur, Sept 4 after school in the small gym, and Fri after school in the main gym – Coaches: Mr. Miguel (community) & Mr Ryan

 

Jr Girls - Thur, Sept 4 after school in the main gym & Mon, Sept 8 after school in the main gym – Coaches: Ms. Hannah May, Mr. Tristan Cumming (community) & Mr Freeburn

 

Sr Girls - Thur, Sept 4 at 5:15 in the main gym, Fri, Sept 5 after school in the small gym, & Mon, Sept 8 at 5:15 in the main gym – Coaches: Mr. Quested & Ms. Heppell

 

Sr Boys - Thur, Sept 4 at 5:15 in the small gym, Fri, Sept 5 at 5:15 in the main gym, & Mon, Sept 8 in the main gym – Coaches: Mr. Ayden Ryan & Nick (community)

 

Cross Country - meeting Thur, Sept 4 at lunch in the main gym. First practice will be Fri, Sept 5 after school (meet on the track) – Coach: Mr Winkler (RO teacher)

 

Boys Soccer

Jr Boys - Mon, Sept 8 and Wed, Sept 10 after school on the main field – Coach: Mr Allen Jacques (community)

Sr Boys - TBA....possibly Tues, Sept 9 & Thur, Sept 11 &  - Coach: Ms. Yager

 

Girls Field Hockey - meeting/sign up Friday Sept. 5 at the beginning of lunch in the small gym.  Practices/tryouts after school at 3:30pm, Mon Sept. 8, and Wed. Sept. 10 both on school field .  Fri. Sept. 12 TBA

NEW - Model United Nations Club

Calling all delegates!  Come check out the Model United Nations on WEDNESDAYS at lunch in room 200. Debate, learn, and collaborate.

 

Claremont has a wide range of clubs… there are lots of ways to get involved.

PAC Fundraiser: Country Grocer Receipts

Here is an easy way to support your PAC year-round. Save your Country Grocer receipts and bring them to the school front office.  We appreciate your participation in this fundraiser, which will benefit our school community with up to $2000 in grocery gift cards.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic at Shoreline Medical

At this Youth Clinic, services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities! This clinic operates on THURSDAYS, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, for Mental and Sexual Health education (there is no physician scheduled). Appointments with a physician are offered on FRIDAYS from 10:00 am – 12:00pm.  Both telehealth and in-person appointments are offered for our physicians and counselors.
